The Boise State Broncos destroyed the Idaho Vandals 63-25 last week to remain undefeated on the season. It was definitely a statement game for the Broncos who have been questioned nearly every other game regarding their win margin versus weaker opponents. The Vandals had a chance to ruin the Bronco’s BCS hopes and their head coach even tried to motivate his team by saying he would love to have the conference mad at him for keeping the Broncos from BCS money. Boise State showed why they are ranked No. 6 in the nation by throttling the Vandals by such a huge margin.
Bronco’s QB Kellen Moore was once again unstoppable as he was 22 of 32 for 299 yards and 5 touchdowns. His favorite target on the day was wide receiver Austin Pettis who pulled in 4 touchdown passes for 123 yards and 8 receptions. Running back Jeremy Avery carried the ball for 110 yards on 14 touches and 1 touchdown. WR Titus Young also grabbed 6 passes for 101 yards and a touchdown. Young also had 100-yard kickoff return for a score as well.
The Broncos defense made some big plays when they needed them and put pressure on the Vandals QB as they intercepted him 5 times. Bronco defensive star, Kyle Wilson had a 71-yard pick-6 to cap yet another stellar performance for the Bronco secondary. The Vandals turned the ball over 7 times to the Broncos.
It will be interesting to see if the Broncos move up or down in the polls this week. The BCS Gods will once again control their fate based on the magic formula. Boise State will look to keep the momentum going this week as they travel to Utah State. I’m sure the Broncos will plan on scoring as many points as possible for the rest of the season in order to make an argument for a BCS spot.
Utah State is coming off of a 24-9 victory over the San Jose State Spartans. The Aggies only had 50 yards passing against the Spartans but it worked out ok for them as they got things done on the ground. Aggies running back Robert Turbin carried the ball 24 times for 190 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Boise State has outscored the Aggies 101-14 in the last two meetings and this trend will likely not change. I don’t see the Aggies posing a threat to the Broncos in any aspect of the game.
The Broncos are averaging 42.4 points per game and allowing 17 to their opponents. The Aggies are putting up 27 ppg but giving up 30.7 to the competition.
Boise State is 4-0 SU, 2-2 ATS, and 3-1 O/U on the road this season. Utah State is 3-1 SU, 3-0 ATS, and 1-2 O/U at home this year.
The line on this game opened at Utah State +24.5 but will likely move as the week closes out. Most oddsmakers have the Aggies at +24.5 as well.
BET ON UTAH STATE AT +44.5 BY USING A 20 POINT FOOTBALL TEASER AT 5DIMES
Kellen Moore and company will pick apart the Utah State secondary for another BSU route against an under matched WAC opponent.
BSU head coach Chris Peterson is not hiding his feelings towards the BCS committee’s apparent ranking formula as he commented that his team will probably drop three or four spots after their lopsided win.
Wilson’s Pick: Utah State has been a covering machine this year hitting 75% ATS. BSU wins big here HOWEVER Utah State gets the money and stays within the +24.5 by the hair of your chiny-chin-chin. Luck to Ya.
