Craps: She's a Rookie!

Craps: She’s a Rookie!
by Wilson of Predictem.com

If you think craps is strictly for guys or the “good-old boys club” you might want to rethink your position. There are plenty of women who enjoy throwing the dice and most take it very seriously. Let’s face it, women know the value of money and they understand that craps is a great opportunity to take advantage of low casino percentages.

But what about the gal who has, for the first time, just stepped up to the table? Well, please spare me some of your time while I share the story of how my wife fell in love with craps.

The Golden Gate Casino on Freemont Street in downtown Las Vegas has craps tables with $2-$3 table minimums. This was the perfect place to introduce the game to my wife. She had always down played my gambling and never really understood the rush and excitement connected to the game.

We walked into the Golden Gate and bought in for twenty dollars each in chips. The stickman immediately passed the dice to my wife. She panicked and said that she didn’t want to throw them.

My wife was the only gal at the table and there were approximately 7-8 other guys who recognized that she was indeed a craps rookie! “Fellas we have a rookie” said one of the players standing at the opposite end of the table. “Go ahead lady luck.” Another guy shouted in an effort to motivate my wife to roll the dice. I smiled as she began to look like she was going to actually throw’em.

She did throw the dice. She threw them for the next three point numbers and finally rolled a seven-out while attempting to hit her fourth point number. The guys and I loved it as she made about a 20 minute run which isn’t a record by any means but for a first timer it’s life altering. My wife now loves craps!

We played for the next two hours on those timid twenty dollar buy-ins! After more than ten years of trying to get my wife to appreciate the energy of playing craps the moment had finally arrived. The rest of weekend was built around sessions of craps. We came out ahead in all three of our craps adventures. The first run we walked away with about $400 between the two of us; the second session was only around $20 to $30 a piece but we played for nearly three hours! Finally, on our last day of the three day trip we hit won $800. We managed to basically fly down to Vegas for a three night four day stay and not spend a dime of our intended spending money.

Now we understand that you don’t always when every session of craps and it’s not like we broke the casinos but we sure had fun! I had to remind my wife that even Michael Jordan had to lose before he won six championships- the point being that she was a craps rookie who just happened to get really lucky her first three times throwing the dice. It also helps when your husband is educated in the game but even with the educated wagers we were extremely lucky.

Craps is definitely not a “guys-only” casino game as women are just as likely to throw a point number as their masculine counterpart. For me it was a rewarding experience because now my wife can’t wait for our next trip to Vegas.

By the way, my wife and I mainly used the 6 and 8 place bet system along with the pass line and odds. So for those of you who want to bring your better-half to the casino you might just find out how fun craps for two can be! Luck to ya.
