First thing to learn is what a bad beat really is.
I know losing a big hand when you flop a boat is really tough, but the man that won flopped four of a kind! I mean, thats remarkable. I have been playing for years and only held FOAK maybe 6 or 7 times.
A true BAD beat is when you have someone dead in the water and then they suck out a low percentage card on 4th or 5th.
I recommend playing tournaments online for a little. there are some $35 tournamnets on bodog i play in. The competition is decent, and trust me, its better to play against better players. That might not make sense, but better players know when to fold and they are more predictable because they have patterns. Bad players dont know what the **** they are doing so they are wild and unpredictable and usually hand out bad beats becuase they suck out when their 98 suited flops a straight and you have KK.
I play 6 man, 38 dollar buy in, usually takes an hour. I wouldnt play anything lower because thats where the true donkeys play and they are all-in machines.
Also, if you are going to play in a cash game, the standard rule of thumb is to have 25 times the big blind on you. So the 50/100, you would bring 2500. And even thats low. my buddies and i play 5/10 and everyone there has 500-600 on them.
So i guess my advice is to play those touneys to hone your skills at a low-risk, high reward environment and like cuse said, READ READ READ. Sklansky's Theory of Poker and Brunson and Greenstein are must reads........
gl on the felt..........
