he's a jerk if he left "just because" and he just wanted that 900th win. to quit on your team mid-season is deplorable....unless there were mitigating factors behind it like his health....then that's completely different.

guess we will have to wait and find out........

i have never said anything about him to the contrary....dude graduated all but 4 players in 40+ years of coaching who stayed 4 years. but if he just up and quit on his team with a month left in the season because he was tired....that is crap. when you speak for 40 years about players giving a commitment and not quiting....to do so yourself is being a hypocrit.

but as i said, no word why he quit. just hope it wasn't health related.

dude just signed a 3 year extension last september as well.....kind of makes it even more puzzling........hope as i said he is just being an ass and it's not health related....

Obviously, I never liked the guy. He pulled some really dumbass stunts and was a dick regarding Purdue until about Gene Keady's third year or so. I think he had some respect for Keady. This is from 1979 or 1980, I think. In 1980, Purdue made the Final Four (the last time they did) and I believe someone threw a golf ball at Knight at the PU-IU game. (I did not go to PU until 1981.) I was a student for the 'Chair' game, which was the first game that I remember Knight came to the arena without a sport coat. it was almost like he was planning to do something stupid.

Anyway, the guy has a loose screw and lived off of all the adoration from IU fans especially after stunts like that one.

I think he did this because Purdue made the top 25 today.....

Sounds like he was just worn out and couldn't keep giving the necessary effort. Who knows?

when he got win 900, he actually said, "its nice for a change to see the arena packed".

as much of an ego he is, I know he loved Lubbock, but the lack of students in the stands on a consistent basis cannot sit well for someone as egomaniacal as he is.

dunno what the real reason is, but glad he came down and made us a solid program, too bad his recruiting sucks in recent years.

and its definitely sad when TTU is undefeated at home, but only 1 win on the road, with very little shot to make the tourney.

FF I know you joke when you say Taco Tech, but respectfully you need to quit. I'm honestly getting annoyed reading that all the time. It's a school like any other (even if its mine), and they haven't specifically done any slight to you nor have you contracted an STD from one of our co-eds. Kidding around about how much we suck is one thing (since its partly true), but that particular nickname doesn't sit well with me. It offends me as I eat a lot of tacos.

I have heard Taco Tech referred to UTEP as well. Not being a native Texan, I did not think too much about it. Thought it basically referred to a lot of Hispanics going to school there. Believe me, I have heard worse names referred to almost every Big Ten school...including my cow college which has been referred as PurDon't.

I dont think FF meant any harm...
