surprised to see you on MIA(oh). They are spiraling the wrong way and outside of the Buffalo game, KENTST has been very good. They need this game to keep pace for the top spot in the MAC, senior day, revenge spot, last home game...all the works. I actually lean to KENTST as a 1H play possibly. You think they lose this game or are you just expecting a close one. I also think that there is no look ahead factor to the Akron game because it is 7 days away.

I don't put a lot of stock in that senior day stuff, etc. since teams at this level have pretty much the same talent ......Kent has been good but not THAT good.....they've had 4 comeback wins of late and the one at BGSU was sparked by the Falcons top three scorers fouling out in the last 8 mins of the game. Miami is always a tough one for Kent and should keep it close, and Kent has also had trouble late in games putting them away at the foul line.

Lots of snow = a nice cigar, a cold beer and lots of hoops! We got 3 inches last night and some sleet so it was tough to clear today. The shovel was really heavy! Major flurries today and tonight to and from the game but it's 29 out and the snow was mostly wet. Take it easy on your back and don't forget the motrin..........

JoePa-
what is your take on that Kent/Akron game next weekend. I like Akron to return the favor in that game and would bet them anything under 4-5 points. More than that i wouldn't touch it. also, hear you on MIA(oh) but i just liked the spot for KENTST today in the 1H which is why i was asking and played it. I just thought the effort would be there today and it was for at least the first 20 minutes. Didn't pay any attention to the final score or the rest of the game as i already had my cash.... ![]()

That Kent Akron game is always a war with the exception of Kent's win earlier this season at home. I almost expect the books to make Kent a small road favorite in this one, maybe a -1.5 to -2.5. Hate when that happens because that'll give Dambrot some fuel for the motivational fire....like they need any after the ass whooping they got in Kent. The Zips are beatable at home and both teams are winning now. It all comes down to this game for the #1 seed in the MAC tournament. The top two teams in each division is guaranteed one of the top two seeds which I think it total bull crap. The top 4 maybe 5 teams are all in the East. So this game has extra importance even though there's not much difference between the 1&2 seed IMO! Kent has the better inside scorers in this matchup and give a slight edge to Akron at the guards and it's pretty much a tossup at forward with Singletary versus McKnight, both are very strong players. I don't think it's a blowout this time for the home team, but a very close win and it could go either way. I may be going to the JAR for the game and will look at the match-up more closely as the week goes along.

Kent State Tops Miami 66-58 In An Emotional Senior Day Win
Golden Flashes will face Akron with the MAC Regular Season Title next Friday on ESPN2 Courtesy: Kent State Athletic Communications Release: 02/27/2010 KENT, Ohio – On an emotional day for Kent State’s (22-8; 12-3) six seniors the Golden Flashes fought off Miami (12-17; 8-7) for a 66-58 victory Saturday night at the M.A.C Center. In addition to witnessing KSU’s 12th win in the last 13 games, the Blue and Gold Faithful were treated to an exciting half time ceremony in which Alumnus Antonio Gates had his number retired. The win followed by Akron’s (12-3 MAC) 74-68 victory at Bowling Green sets up a winner take all showdown for the Mid-American Conference regular season championship next Friday at Akron. The game will be televised live on ESPN2 at 8:00 p.m. Kent State honored six seniors playing in their final home game before the contest, but it was the post play of sophomore forward Justin Greene (Brooklyn, N.Y./Lincoln) that led the way. Greene posted his sixth double-double of the season with 18 points, shooting 9-12, and 11 rebounds. Senior Frank Henry–Ala (Pasadena, Calif./Motlow C.C. [Tenn.]) had a career high 12 points with six rebounds while fellow classmates Chris Singletary (Chicago, Ill./Florida Prep) and Anthony Simpson (Rockford Ill./Highland CC[Ill]) added 11 points each. Seniors Mike McKee (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum), Brandon Parks (Bunker, Hill, Ind. / Maconaquauh) and Tyree Evans (Richmond, Va./ Motlow C.C. [Tenn.]) were also honored before the game. “It was a hard game to coach,” said Kent State Head Coach Geno Ford. “All six of our seniors have had at least 3.0 GPAs or better in multiple semesters and we are winning. You don’t want to see them go because we have had such a fun ride with them.” After a sluggish 4-18 start from the field Kent State fell behind 13-10 midway through the opening half. The Golden Flashes turned things around in a hurry and gained a 22-15 advantage when senior Henry-Ala capped off a 12-2 run with a three-pointer at the 6:50 mark. The offensive efficiency would continue for KSU which shot 11-15 from the field in the final 10 minutes and took a 35-26 lead at half time. Miami fought back in the second half using a 15-6 run and tied the game at 41-41 on a three from Julian Mavunga at the 14 minute mark. Mavunga finished with a team high 17 points. Greene quickly responded with two buckets inside followed by a dunk from Simpson that extended the margin to six just two minutes later. The game would turn into a defensive battle as neither team scored for nearly five minutes. Henry-Ala finally ended the drought as the KSU margin went to eight (49-41) with seven minutes remaining. Miami creep back to within four around the four minute mark, but Simpson answered with two straight jumpers and later hit a three to push the lead up to nine and put the game away. Kent State shot 42.4 percent for the game, but committed just four turnover compared to 12 for the RedHawks. The turnovers were key as the Golden Flashes held a 13-0 advantage in points of turnovers. KSU also dominated the offensive glass with 16 rebounds that led to a 20-7 edge in second chance points. * Kent State has won nine of the last 10 games when Justin Greene leads the team in scoring * Greene’s 11.9 ppg scoring improvement this season (14.1 ppg 2009-10; 3.3 ppg 2008-09) ranks sixth in the nation * Kent State is 12-0 this season when Anthony Simpson (11 points) scores in double figures * Kent State has now won 22 straight home games in the month of February. * Geno Ford is 14-2 in February as Kent State’s Head Coach: KSU is 34-5 in February the last five seasons * KSU is 22-2 this year when scoring over 62 points and have won 12 straight * The four turnovers are the fewest since KSU had four in a 73-62 win vs Ohio on March 3, 2003
