Bill Self is too conservative. I could have coached that Kansas team to a W against UNI!

When you have the superior talent, you can't play methodically or slow. You have to put pedal to the metal and run and shoot. Give your talent as many opportunities to demonstrate their superiority. That's what Roy Williams did with his NC championship teams. If you slow it down and limit your possessions, you increase the chance of getting upset by an inferior team. That's what happened.

Self played it too conservative against Memphis a couple years ago, but got lucky as Memphis couldn't make FTs and didn't foul when they were up 3 with seconds to go and Chalmers hit the miracle three! Self refused to let his players shoot from the outside. He demanded they keep dumping it in and Memphis just kept collapsing their D and beating them to the ball. Self got lucky when his team bailed him out with some last second heroics.

You gotta play to win. Can't play NOT to lose.
