Ha, three things about the story immediately come to mind for me:

(1) Whoever wrote the caption on the picture is a complete idiot and should be fired. The "construction site" Borgata is next to is the second tower of the casino, not some random "construction site"... Dumbass.

(2) The last quote from the governor in 1978 who signed on for AC is sadly ironic considering what NJ is. Keep your filthy hands out of AC and out of our state? Ummmmmmm, the entire landscape of NJ is littered with ties to organized crime - from all of North Jersey being a haven for organized crime, whether it be sticly North Jersey ties or NYC ties, to the pretty powerful Philly mob which undoubtedly spills over into South Jersey. That quote made me laugh.

(3) And most important... LEGALIZE ******* SPORTS GAMBLING IN ATLANTIC CITY YOU IDIOT POLITICIANS. I wouldn't even care if they tax the hell out of it somehow, people are still going to go to AC to place millions of dollars of bets. Find a way for the gov't AND the casinos to profit from it and legalize it. Maybe we could start getting this god forsaken state out of debt and avoid paying insane taxes and car insurance and embarrassing cost of living type fees. And this doesn't apply to AC, but get some god damn slot machines into Monmouth Park and the Meadowlands so we can save the race tracks here too you ignorant fools!!!).
