Default Advice Appreciated

What's up everyone,

Hey, recently I have been thinking about taking some cash that I could spare, about 10 or 15K and going on a test run in Vegas for a couple of days. First run at being a professional sports gambler. For some reason, I think I can really do it. Just stick with baseball, hockey and boxing. I dont mess with anything else. I've asked my closest friends and not one person has agreed with me. They know I play well, my family knows I can pick, but for some reason they all think my idea is completely stupid. I make a very decent living, run two companies, and support a family of 4. So the amount I'm taking won't make me, but it wont break me either.

Some feedback from those who have daily action, people that I can relate to, would be appreciated. Stupid or give it a shot?

just for a few days?

man GL, that takes some ballz, I do applaud your sense of adventurism.

if you're skeptical or need some validation, just look at your record of betting so far, and try to compound it towards the 15k youre taking, cuz its obvious that you couldnt drop down that much at home on the internet or with a bookie.

but yeh think of it in terms of ratio and project how you would think you would do if you DIDNT change a thing in respect to what methods you cap, the amount, etc....

its your money as I'm sure most would say, but life's short, depends on how you want to live it in that short time also :)

GL man! best wishes either way with your decision.

(btw this wasnt really advice, sorry, just something I would do myself if I grew some cahoneys also LOL)

I know a few friends that have done it and they do pretty good, but they say it takes all the fun out of gambling. I would say if you can get the time off do a test run and see how you like it. About three years ago I was thinking of doing the samething after I hit a Pick 6 in horse racing for a little over 60K. I did not want to do all the work professional gambler, so I just took 20K for my gambling bankroll and used the rest for taking my mom and dad on trips. I would say do what will make you happy.

I have a good friend who moved out to vegas and now lives right off the strip! He is good at what he does and fires when the right game lines up! He hit a 7 teamer that paid 35K at bodog one year! I talked to him on and off and the last I heard he was burnt out and just focusing on work and investing! He has some strong system that he uses but like I said he is burnt out now!

I wish you the best of luck, but once you choose to make gambling a living it is no longer fun. It is now a job and the bottom line is you have to produce week after week and the grind will get the best of you!!!!

It's not really ballzy, its just money that is sitting there collecting dust in the safety deposit box. I would never touch any bank accounts, company money, personal, the home, or any of that.

My record is solid. The problem is that I was raised by it, everyone in my family plays. They play cards though, not my thing. I grew up watching big money on card luck. The problem with locals is that they mess with you. Try to cool you off, make up rules, etc. The internet defeats the purpose, this is a cash game to me.

I tried horses once. Some drunk guy convinced me to play once. He said he worked at Santa Anita, etc. As soon as they hit the straights he goes "oh, the horse broke, we lost". What the hell, I had no clue what he was talking about. I played some more, won money not even worth mentioning. Im glad to see u cashed out though, nice...

Ya, do what makes you happy, that's true. Thanks man...

I'm going to take your word for it. It no longer becomes action I guess, I can understand that. You know, that will probably deter me more than anything. I imagined that it would be the life you know. Just because I enjoy playing everyday, but I guess if you do it all day everyday and rely on it to eat, it no longer becomes fun. Hmm...

Great feedback everyone. Thanks. I may still make a run for kicks, but I will have to double think the professional aspect of it.

Default If it aint broke , don't try to fix it

Is my opinion..

You do well , i think you should be satisfied with your success and not look to get greedy. Not saying that you would or you couldn't succeed at other ventures, but by the sounds of it ( and by seeing your results myself first hand with your plays and your contest record ) I think you should continue the success and stay the course . GOOD LUCK WITH WHATEVER YOU DO V3 ..

Your a good dude and I wish you the best.

I never thought of it that way billy!

man I guess after 7 years doing this (not 7 successful years LOL), I kinda take for granted the high the action gives me, cuz it took me 5.5 years to figure out, the extra money is nice, but that I dont do this for the extra money....more of the challenge.

I dunno if anyone else feels this way, but thats the way I feel, and this alone got me interested in baseball to be honest, cuz before this I didnt give baseball the time of day. (i still think its too slow a sport for me LOL)

GL V3, whatever you do man.

I agree, bases suck, but the action & the $$$$ rocks! Started bases mid may this year and aleady +3000... definitely not enough to support my everyday life, but if this kid wants to go and "bust a nut", for a week or two, I am all for it! Just like any vacation to a casino, with MUCH better odds! Doin' it for a living? Wouldn't even think about it until, I was old and gray...

I'd say don't do it if you have kids.

The gambling life isn't fair to families and when it's all said and done family is all you have.

Vegas is a city full of walking zombies. It takes a real straight arrow to be able to not succumb to all the distractions etc.

With all due respect to everybody's opinions, you should tap Snowman a little bit harder for his opinions on the matter. Snow is flat out a library of information on the topic, a guy that is a one in a million and knows the ins and outs of doing such.
