I Think he will have a big shot. BB is going to be trying 3 hard races in 5 weeks, and he has had bad feet. Also CD is a very good horse and should be able to get the mile and a half.

Read in the NY Post today where Dutrow has a sort of blog called "Belmont Diary" he's writing for them that he feels Casino Drive is one horse that is tough but he thinks only two career starts is a problem (seems hypocritcal seeing how Big Brown only had three prior to the Derby), and he wrote "Most of the time, when horses fly from abroad and they are in quarantine, they run good off the plane but their next race is never so strong. I don't know why, but that's usually how it goes. I'm not afraid of him."

On the weak 3 year old crop and dearth of competition Dutrow says "The level of competition is helping us. We didn't have to run a tough race in the Preakness. I have only seen three horses that Big Brown would have to run against to show he's better." Those three are Harlem Rocker, Lieutenent Ron, and Casino Drive. Of Casino Drive he flat out says "I'd like to have that horse (in my stable) yes, but I don't think he can beat Big Brown. He doesn't have the quick turn (of foot)".

Lastly, he says that if Big Brown wins Belmont that he will run him only twice more - at Saratoga for the Travers and in the Breeders Cup Classic at Santa Anita. The Haskell at Monmouth Park isn't an option for Big Brown he says. The Classic would pit him against Curlin which is the industry's dream right now, I'd imagine.

I'd watch that for sure, it would be one helluva race.

If BB wins the Belmont I dont think he will race again. IMO Casino Drive will run even better in the Belmont 2nd of the layoff. If I can get 3-1 or better I will be playing CD big. Is anyone going to the Belmont? I just got my tickets in the mail today, should be a fun day

My friends were talking about going but we aren't as of now (I think). Looks like it will the biggest crowd ever, and quite honestly I can do without being around near 100K Long Islanders/New Yorkers hahaha... Also, no offense birds, but I'm going to take Dutrow's opinion on when his horse will run over yours, hahaha...

How can he not run him in the Breeders Cup Classic if he wins the Triple Crown? The racing industry should be embarrassed of itself if they allow that to happen (although I understand there's nothing they can do about it). They would FINALLY have two horses people really seem to care about, Big Brown and Curlin, and both running at a high level at the same time. It's simply a disgrace if they don't let them put on a show on racing's second biggest day.

Cuse 80 million dollars will stop him from running after the Belmont. IMO Curlin would kick his ass. BB is in a very weak crop of three year olds which makes him look great.

That's the beauty of horse racing and the tragic reason it will never be more mainstream, IMHO.

I don't agree Curlin would "kick his ass", but I'm not saying you're wrong either. Sadly, 80% chance we never find out because the horse fucking is more important than the horse running races. And I know you know since we talk frequently, but I wasn't being a douche, just saying...

Stud fees for an undefeated Triple Crown winner would be more(by a shitload) than a horse that (potentially) got exposed in the last race of his life. These horses make way more after they are done racing than while they are racing, as I'm sure you know.

I do know, and I think it's one of the biggest contributing factors to the lack of mainstream success that horse racing struggles with. They need to have some kind of monetary incentive for longevity and actually competing and winning, and not for $50 million stud fees. It's never going to happen I know, but it would really benefit racing if the most recognizable horses weren't retired before they are 4 years old.

Cuse you are right Breeding is killing the sport and I hate it. I would love to see BB vs Curlin, but it will never happen
