Default Harmonious MLB Divisionsional Openers

Gonna clump a couple days worth of threads together to help avoid the clutter. Should be a really fun 4 series as they all hopefully are competitive. I think the Red Sox might sweep the battered Angels, and if Sabathia can win Thursday the Yankees will have a dogfight on their hands. The NL is so close it's a coin flip, IMHO so I'm staying away from series prices altogether.

MLB Plyaoffs YTD: 1-0 (+1.2 units)

1 UNIT
Phillies (-140). Much like I alluded to the fact that I thought Tulowitzki would announce himself on the national stage the other night, I think the same applies for Cole Hamels in this series. The kid has amazing stuff and I think he will outpitch Jeff Francis tomorrow afternoon. I also think the Rockies will have a bit of a letdown after their incredible win the other night. The Phillis have had time to soak it all in, and the crowd will be in rare "Philly form" tomorrow.

1 UNIT
Red Sox (-165). Angels are 8-18 in their last 26 at Fenway and Lackey is pedestrian at best against the Red Sox and worse against them at Fenway.

2 UNITS
RED SOX SERIES (-180).

Probably gonna play Arizona later too since Webb is extremely tough on righties and the Cubs are primarily a home run hitting team of right handed hitters.

Default Thursday Plays

Playoff Record: 3-1 (+1.8 units)

1 UNIT
Cubs (-125). I really think Lilly comes in and gets the job done tonight. He had a very, very underrated season is a better pitcher than a streaky Doug Davis in the first place. The right handed bats of the Cubs should be able to bust out tonight. Webb is probably the worst possible match-up for the Cubbies and I think they put together a 2-3 HR game with 6-7 runs tonight.

Looking at the Yanks/Tribe UNDER tonight too, but am wavering because Wang is not that great away from Yankee Stadium. I like the Tribe tonight too, but every time I bet against the Yanks they dominate so I'm laying off that one.

Damn Flubbies....

1 UNIT
Indians (+130). Carmona's numbers in September are filthy and if he can settle in and get thru the first inning unscathed, I think he puts on a show tonight. I know Pettitte is "Mr Game 2", but every cocky ass Yankee fan is acting like this is a done deal and Pettitte won't lose. Shut the **** up please, he's not Dwight Gooden circa '84 or Orel Hershiser circa '88. He's been good this year, but has not been lights out at all, and every time he pitches it seems the Yanks don't hit.

Red Sox (-140). Escobar is coming back from injury hiatus, and while his stuff is purely nasty I think he will be a bit rusty tonight and Dice-K earns his money. The Angels have never seen Matsuzaka and I think they have it in their heads that they just can't win at Fenway Park. 8-19 over their last 27 and their ace couldn't even get it done.

Default Monday Night Game Four

Playoff Record: 6-2 (+4.85 units)

1 UNIT
Yankees -1.5 (-130).
Indians/Yankees OVER 10 (-110).

My disdain for the Yankees aside, I just don't see how idiot Eric Wedge can trot Paul Byrd out there tonight. I think it's a complete disgrace, and if I were an Indian fan I would be absolutely LIVID. The guy's batting average against for the season is .302 and he he got rocked by the Yankees (the "best" offense $215 million can buy) when they faced him, so what makes Wedge think tonight will be any different from past history? I've said all season long that I think Chien Ming Wang is the most overrated pitcher in baseball, and if he weren't on the Yankees he'd never see 15-16 wins, nevermind 19 in back to back seasons, but this pitching match-up is an atrocity. Byrd isn't even "effectively wild" to keep the Yanks off balance or something. He pounds the zone with his 86mph fastball and his array of crap. Not a good idea with a Yankee team that just "broke out" last night and seem more relaxed at the plate finally. If my guy had team totals I would play the Yankees OVER whatever it is (I'm guessing 6.5 maybe?). If I were an Indian fan and they lose this series in 5 games with Carmona sitting there with his thumb up his ass on full rest, Wedge better get fired. Sabathia should be going tonight on short rest and Carmona should be pitching Wednesday night back at "The Jake". This one is out of reach by the 2nd or 3rd inning, IMHO...

Yankees 9, Indians 5

GL man and I agree with your analysis. I hate the Yankees, and this just reeks of Yankees in 5 (I'm tempted on taking the +155 for them on the series).

He better throw Carmona in there in Game 5 if Sabathia struggles
