They act like Torre "turned down the deal", well, if he told them all along he wouldn't accept a pay cut or wanted a two year deal (which he deserves both), then they turned him down, forced him out for Steinbrenner's ego, and are doing damage control trying to fool the public into thinking otherwise because they know Torre will be too classy to point fingers and will take the high road. The way they treated a guy who took them to playoffs for 12 straight years and managed the out of control egos in the biggest market in the world is just plain embarrassing.
Hating the Yankees as much as I do, this is a colossal donkey move for the Yankees. Way to go Hank and Hal Steinbrenner!!!! Nice start to your reign!!! You can't offer Joe Torre a ******* pay cut and a deal based on making the playoffs and then advancing each round for another million dollars. Putting that deal on the table implies that Torre didn't want to win in the playoffs and didn't try to win in against the red hot Indians... It's idiotic. The Yankees weakened themselves today, and I love it. Last edited by CuseFan10; 10-18-2007 at 04:54 PM.. |

Yankees have been weakening themselves for the past 10 days and Steinbrenner has been doing it for years now. First the "boss" says if Torre couldnt beat the Indians he would be fired. Then 10 days after they lose, it takes days of meetings to come up with a decision on what to do.
When does money matter to the Yankees? They offer Torre a paycut of 3 million...Stupid ******* idiots. Now they said they wont make an offer for A-Rod if he opts out of his contract. I cant wait to see what a bunch of bull that is. I hope Torre goes somewhere else and wins a world series. I also cant wait for the Yankees to miss the playoffs next year. It will make them look like the jackasses they really are.

Cashman can say whatever wants about ARod, the fact is that Scott Boras will go out and do his thing and then right before signing the contract, he will call the Yankees and ask them if they want ARod and what will it take for ARod to be a Yankee. The same **** happened with Carlos Beltran.
Plus, without the Yankees involved in the bidding, there is no shot in hell ARod gets the $30+ million that he wants. Boras and ARod need the Yankees just as much as the Yankees need ARod and Cashman knows it. |
