Just my opinion but I would drop Howard down a bit. He has not proven time again that he can produce those kind of stats plus there are a lot of good 1st basemen. I actually have him and Ortiz about the same with Howard a bit more upside but Ortiz more consistent.
I really like Soriano but the Cub factor has me worried. Here is my top 10: 1 - Pujols - no brainer IMO 2 - ARod - Even in a bad year he was still very good, look for a bounce back. 3 - Reyes - SS position makes him very valuable. 4 - Santana - No pitcher even close to him. 5 - Soriano - Cub factor keeps him from being #2. 6 - Crawford - Can make you competitive in steals by himself, looking for a little more power this year from him. 7 - David Wright - I just really like him and think he will have a huge year. 8 - Ryan Howard - I want to see him do it for more than 1 year before I move him up. 9 - David Ortiz - Consistent big hitter, too bad he can only be used as DH. 10 - Carlos Beltran - One of my favorite players so that is why he is here. Others receiving consideration for #10 in no particular order: Chase Utley - Best 2nd basemen by a wide margin. Vlad Guerrero - seems to be headed down. Miguel Cabrera - Dude can flat out hit! Grady Sizemore - Does a little bit of everything. |

thanks Guys, Jer - I like your thinking with both A-Rod and Crawford. This just may be the year that Crawford makes the leap to the top. (the top of corse being #2 behind Pujols) JML - a little worried about Howard this year, he's got some nice table setters, but Burrell, Helms and Barajas as protection?

Just a note on my top 10, I put Santana there because I think that is where he deserves to be but I rarely pick a pitcher in the first round so that would probably not be the order I would draft them. I feel that I can usually get value by drafting stud offense then some good lower top tier pitchers later.

You're in a great spot at #2. I would personally take Reyes. He is a roto monster... plain and simple.
My 10 would be: 1. Pujols 2. Reyes 3. Soriano 4. Howard 5. Guerrero (may be able to get him at a huge bargain this year) 6. A-Rod 7. Santana 8. Cabrera 9. Ortiz 10. Utley

You're first 5 are absolutely phenomenal. How does Vernon Wells wind up in the 5th round?
IMO, Soriano is the #2 overall pick and you can make a case he's #1 because of his SB's. I can't believe he went 13th, that's absolute LARCENY for whoever got him. I also can't believe Crawford went so low at #23, that's is INSANE. No offense, but there must be a bunch of guys in that league who don't really know what they are doing. Is it a public league or a good, solid private league? Hafner 5th overall is a brutal pick, and Thome 7th might be the worst pick of all time??? Ortiz 3rd??? What the ****??? 1B can be plucked off the waiver wire the position is so deep. Meanwhile, Beltran and Manny go 20th and 17th? Makes no sense at all. The 2nd round might be better than the first round overall, haha... Very strange. Nice job by you though, for sure! Hopefully you filled out your roster with power guys, closers, and capable starting pitchers and you should be very formidable. Last edited by CuseFan10; 03-02-2007 at 02:27 PM.. |

I love your team S&B! You need another closer though, maybe you have a crappy lesser guy you didn't list. Pick up Borowski if no one has him maybe if you need one. I expect BIG THINGS from Haren this year and a big improvement for Felix. "Public league" explains alot of those selections as you get people with NO CLUE and wind up not paying attention.
Your team is stacked though, nice job. I'm in a bunch of leagues already so not sure if I want to drop another $400 though I do LOVE fantasy baseball. I have two AL ONLY leagues for money and a couple other free ones. Let me know if Kevin still needs people I guess though... |
