I have to admit, the guy's swing is sweet, true, and almost pure. I really don't think being on the juice would help you develop the discipline, hand-eye coordination, or swing to properly hit a baseball, be it between the gaps, or over the fence.

however, it is quite unnatural IMO to be playing at this high a level at this age, without major old age kicking in or various injuries to slow down your numbers, but looking at his numbers, they may not be MVP-like, but he's at about the top 10% I'd say with these numbers, maybe even less than that!

then again this is a useless thread, and all of these points have already been visited.

Mark McGwire's 70th home run ball fetched a reported $3 million. Barry Bonds' HR ball that broke Babe Ruth's 714 career mark went for over $200,000. So now the question becomes, how much will Barry's record breaking home run no. 756 ball go for? Well, now we know -- it will sell for at least a million bucks.


A Dallas auction house, already offered $1 million for the ball Bonds hits to break Hank Aaron's career record of 755.

"The all-time home run record is the most hallowed record in all of American sports,'' said Chris Ivy, director of sports auctions for Heritage Auction Galleries, which made the offer. "Barry Bonds hasn't been the most popular player in baseball, but his talents are undeniable. The record will represent not only his skill but his longevity in the sport."
Well, as people say, the ball is only worth what someone will pay for it -- and at this point, that price tag is already a cool million.

The ball wound up in the hands of 22-year-old Matt Murphy of Queens, N.Y. he was bloodied and his clothes torn as security guards hustled him and his prize ball out of the park. The ball is estimated to be worth at least $500,000.

According to the Giants, Murphy flew into town yesterday, purchased a ticket at the ballpark -- the club didn't know whether Murphy found a ticket from a scalper or acquired a standing-room-only ticket from the team -- and attended the game with a friend. He stopped here in San Francisco on his way to Australia.
