NFL Playoffs YTD: 5-7, -12.17 Units

Bad DC weekend....hit Jax and GB, but that 2nd half in Indy killed what looked to be a solid under play, and loading up on the Cowboys also killed me. Onward and upward......essentially fading the two teams that had to play the wildcard round, and who have to go on the road probably a little more banged up than their home counterpart (especially SD!).

Packers -6.5 -114 vs Giants - 4 Units
Pick a winner, so if Eli Manning wins 3 straight road playoff games, with the last one being in Lambeau field against Farve....then I'll tip my hat to the guy....I just don't see it happening. Seems to be destiny this year that Farve and Brady will meet in the SB....and I think #4 carves up the banged up Giants secondary to get the win, much like he did the the week 2 blowout. Also, the way Grant is giving them a more balanced offence, I like the Pack to roll big behind the experience of Brett running that offence. Eli has played well lately, but these last few performances have been played in good weather conditions...before that, during some of his struggles this year, Eli has blamed it repeatedly on adjusting to cold weather conditions. In Green Bay next weekend, it's expected to be well below freezing (of course). We gotta be due for a couple tailor-made Eli screwups and turnovers....what better place that Wisconsin in late January in the biggest game of his career? Eli was horrible in the only 2 games he's played where the temp has been under 40 degrees...that Washington game where he went like 18 for 52 being the best example....afterwords he blamed his performance on the "cold". If he thinks that was cold....wait until it's like 8 degrees with sideways snow at Lambeau on Sunday...

NFC/AFC Teaser: Pats -7 + Packers PK - 4 Units
Decided to put this one in early as well once it got down to 14, even though the money is coming in on SD early, I doubt it moves much under 14... and I think one of Rivers, LT or Gates might be listed as out or doubtful during the week, which might move the line over 2 TDs again, and I don't want my NE part of the teaser to be Over a TD. I don't see how the injured Bolts will be able to keep up with NE, after a tough game against the Tenn defence, then an emotional victory over Indy on the road where they were dropping like flies. Now they have to go on the road again, cross country, and beat maybe the best team ever? No way. With your 2 best players and QB less than 100%? Expecting SD to beat Indy and NE on the road in consecutive weeks when not at their best is asking a bit much you would think. With the teaser it's pick a winner, and the Pats are my team in this matchup with two healthy teams...and we don't even have that.

Riding the experience of Farve and Brady to the Super Bowl in two pick-the-winner scenerios...

GL Everyone

Agree with the GB play. With it being pick the winner, taking the better team at home is a pretty easy choice for me.

Also, this is not relevant to your play, but Philip Rivers is an ass. A guy who has done NOTHING in the NFL taunting fans? It was bad enough when he was taunting opposing players the other week, but now fans? What's next? A Ron Artest type rumble in the stands between Rivers and a few fans?

Anyway, my point being, I don't think I can bet on either side in that game, simply because I don't think I can root for either one to win, lol. If they could tie and both get eliminated, that would be super, lol

In any case, I'll certainly be rooting for whoever wins the NFC to win the super bowl, LMFAO

Thanks.

Yeah Stif....the whole pick the winner + home team + better team thing is my reasoning for both plays (and getting NE down on the teaser). Plus, both road teams are playing their 3rd playoff game, where the home teams had a bye. Both road teams also playing 2nd consecutive away from home (with SD travelling back and forth to the West coast and NY on their 3rd straight roadie). All things point to the NFL getting their wish, and having a Farve/Brady matchup IMO. (speaking of that, the refs might even help, lol!) I'm just banking on them covering a TD, as we know happens most of the time.

As for Rivers....I agree, what a prick. I could maybe give him the benefit of the doubt when he was yapping while he was walking to the dressing room, as he was pumped up, and wanted to get back in the game (but still classless for what he's accomplished, I agree). But to turn around and taunt the fans behind the bench after the 4th down miss at the end was very bush. Could you picture Montana, Farve or Manning doing that? The guy is an ass. And weren't the Chargers the ones that were crying about NE being "classless" last year?? Brutal.

I'm with you....NFC it is I would love to see Farve pull the upset and end the NE party with an outright win in the SB, ending the perfect season, and retiring with another SB and a storybook ending...

JML-

I love the teaser play!

The fact is the Chargers played there Superbowl yesterday! No way they can get up for NE after they put there hearts and players on the line yesterday like they did.

I live in SD and am by no way a Charger fan. Everybody here knows the Chargers have Indys # so to speak and NE has the Chargers#.

Teaser a good play as the Charger D could possibly keep them somewhat close and maybe some SD gargage at the end. Most likely I see a NE BLOWOUT, somthing like 37-13

......oh the irony of the chargers whining about NE being disrespectful.........

JML- GL!.......didn't GB and NE play in the SB 10 years ago?...don't feel like looking that up but i swear they played in either the '97 or '98 SB.......GL!....

Green Bay 35-21 over New England. Favre's first superbowl. Game was a push, GB was favored by 14. I believe it was the 96 season.

Larry, if I remember correctly, GB went for two at the end of the game to make it a push

Yep, it was after the Desmond Howard kickoff return for a TD. But I think it was in the 3rd qtr, I don't think there was any scoring in the 4th qtr.

Need the Pack to win for my teaser as well. Have you seen those trends for Brett Farve in cold weather. He's something crazy like 9-1 in under 10 degree weather. Let's do it PACK!

LOL, Faulk and SD's offensive coordinator who apparently thought they could win by kicking FG's

They called some passing plays into the endzone down there....some he was pressured, some they weren't open, one Chambers was just out of bounds, one Vrabel knocked it out of Gates' hands...NE defence stopped them as much as SD's OC didn't get TDs, IMO...but yeah...maybe a few to many predictable plays down there, and it is so true that you can't beat NE with FGs! That late punt was questionable too....you know the Pats will likely be able to run the clock some, as they had two long drives that half (one pick one TD). Once they punted, I knew it was done...then I just started hoping for a backdoor cover, LOL! SD'd defence played well overall....they deserved the win....all in all the SD injuries were probably too much....a healthy team on offence, and they win outright, IMO....
