Default How Stupid Are We?

For your consideration....

HOW STUPID ARE WE?
Part 1
In just one year . Remember the election in 2006?
Thought you might like to read the following:
A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.

Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:
1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.

America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!
Remember it's Congress that makes law not the President.
He has to work with what's handed to him.

Quote of the Day........
'My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it.'
-- Barack Obama

Part 2:
Taxes... Whether Democrat or a Republican
you will find these statistics enlightening and amazing.
Source: The Tax Foundation - U.S. Federal Individual Income Tax Rates History, 1913-2008

Taxes under Clinton 1999 Taxes under Bush 2008
Single making 30K - tax $8,400 Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K - tax $14,000 Single making 50K - tax $12,500
Single making 75K - tax $23,250 Single making 75K - tax $18,750

Married making 60K - tax $16,800 Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K - tax $21,000 Married making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 125K - tax $38,750 Married making 125K - tax $31,250

Both democratic candidates will return to the higher tax rates.

It is amazing how many people that fall into the categories above think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever. If Obama or Hillary are elected, they both say they will repeal the Bush tax cuts and a good portion of the people that fall into the categories above can't wait for it to happen. This is like the movie The Sting with Paul Newman; you scam somebody out of some money and they don't even know what happened.

PART 3:
You think the war in Iraq is costing us too much? Read this:
Boy am I confused. I have been hammered with the propaganda that it is the Iraq war and the war on terror that is bankrupting us.
I now find that to be RIDICULOUS.

I hope the following 14 reasons are forwarded over and over again until they are read so many times that the reader gets sick of reading them. I have included the URL's for verification of all the following facts.

1. $11 Billion to $22 billion is spent on welfare to illegal aliens each year by state governments.
Verify at: FAIR: Immigration and Welfare
2. $2.2 Billion dollars a year is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school lunches for illegal aliens.
Verify at: http://www.cis..org/articles/2004/fiscalexec.html
3. $2.5 Billion dollars a year is spent on Medicaid for illegal aliens.
Verify at: http://www.cis..org/articles/2004/fiscalexec.html
4. $12 Billion dollars a year is spent on primary and secondary schooling for children here illegally and they cannot speak a word of English!
Verify at: http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIP.../01/ldt.0.html
5. $17 Billion dollars a year is spent for education for the American-born children of illegal aliens, known as anchor babies.
Verify at CNN.com - Transcripts
6. $3 Million Dollars a DAY is spent to incarcerate illegal aliens.
Verify at: CNN.com - Transcripts
7. 30% percent of all Federal Prison inmates are illegal aliens.
Verify at: CNN.com - Transcripts
8. $90 Billion Dollars a year is spent on illegal aliens for Welfare & social services by the American taxpayers.
Verify at: http://premium.cnn.com/TRANSCIPTS/0610/29/ldt.01.html
9. $200 Billion Dollars a year in suppressed American wages are caused by the illegal aliens.
Verify at: CNN.com - Transcripts
10. The illegal aliens in the United States have a crime rate that's two and a half times that of white non-illegal aliens. In particular, their children, are going to make a huge additional crime problem in the US.
Verify at: CNN.com - Transcripts
11. During the year of 2005 there were 4 to 10 MILLION illegal aliens that crossed our Southern Border also, as many as 19,500 illegal aliens from Terrorist Countries. Millions of pounds of drugs, cocaine, meth, heroin and marijuana, crossed into the U. S from the Southern border.
Verify at: Homeland Security Report: http://tinyurl.com/t9sht
12. The National Policy Institute, 'estimated that the total cost of mass deportation would be between $206 and $230 billion or an average cost of between $41 and $46 billion annually over a five year period.'
Verify at: http://www.nationalpolicyinstitute.o...eportation.pdf
13. In 2006 illegal aliens ! sent hom e $45 BILLION in remittances back to their countries of origin.
Verify at: Wooldridge - How Much Further Into This Nightmare?
14. 'The Dark Side of Illegal Immigration: Nearly One Million Sex Crimes Committed by Illegal Immigrants In The United States.'
Verify at: http://www.drdsk.com/articleshtml
The total cost is a whopping $ 338.3 BILLION DOLLARS A YEAR.

Are we THAT stupid?
If this doesn't bother you then just delete the message.

If, on the other hand, if it does raise the hair on the back of your neck, I hope you forward it to every legal resident in the country including every representative in Washington, D.C. - five times a week for as long as it takes to restore some semblance of intelligence in our policies and enforcement thereof.

What Republican wrote that, or where did you acquire and gather all that info from? Fox News Report? Ha... I'm pretty sure someone, maybe Flyers, posted Part 3 while back, and it's really mind-boggling.

I'm 100% not trying to start and argument or ANYTHING or care to know your political identity on any level..... Just curious. Thanks!

thats like saying, my 100 dollar a night hooker is costing me too much, but leaving the lights on and the water running all day in my house at the same time is costing me too much as well.

in this case, I am correlating the 100 dollar hooker to Iraq, and the negligence of wasting energy/water to the immigration issue.

point is: they are both problems. One is initiated by said horny bastard, and the 2nd a "domestic" issue. both can be solved, not in one swift motion, but its not unsolvable calamities.

so we can either compare two ongoing issues, and btch about which one is worse or costs more, or we can do something about one or preferably both!

great, gas was 2.19 in 2006, 3.50 now.

gas was also 0.93 in 1998 when I had my first car and if I remember right it was under a Republican Congress and Democratic President, but I'm sure half a decade before that with a Democratic Congress gas was not 3.85 a gallon either.

and I have to say I'm with Cusefan on this one, did Bill O'Reilly release this or what LOL, I mean wasn't there a Republican Congress in power as well as a Republican president ultimately that resulted in the war in Iraq?

Illegal immigration has been around since before the English settled in the North Eastern coast of America, to a different degree Native Americans will argue as such, so blaming the Democrats for everything from the Big Bang to Donald Trump's hairdo is irresponsible and stupid. I truly believe every "powers that be" is responsible.

so yes, I guess we are that stupid LOL

and the complexity of every issue we face today as well as the simple line in the sand dividing everyone on these issues is really disillusioning if not interesting to me.

the overall quality of life is plummeting for Americans from taxes, to gas prices, food prices, employment anxieties, housing crisis, and the stress from the war in Iraq each are serious problems of course, but whats disillusioning to me is how much we btch about people who come to this country to make a better life and many do abuse this, most are not welcomed here as evidenced by the voices crying out in protest.

but it still comes to this, someone is giving these immigrants jobs or else they would not come/stay here. and if by some miracle all or most of them are sent back to make "Americans" happy, who are going to take their place? We btch about these people taking our jobs, but how come I dont hear much btching about them taking our places in the Army and fighting in Iraq?

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/02/09/na...09recruit.html

if you add the minimum of the two larger minority groups in the Army, African Americans and Hispanics, that makes up roughly 25-30% of the enlisted population. Thats still a significant number of people sent to die while their fellow "Americans" are calling for their parents/brothers/sisters to be banned from the country they're fighting for.

I'm not saying its right that immigrants are financially straining the healthcare system, clogging up our jails, or raising our insurance premiums, or adding to rampant crimes. However the truth is, all the above problems have been problems since the beginning of time regardless of demographic group, and though they are moderately to majorly increased today, I do not agree with the mass scapegoating.

Of course as always we are left to bicker on message boards with little power realistically to do any significant improvements.

and yes it is race. the 800 pound gorilla in this thread and shadowing all issues. Unless I'm mistaken since I don't live up North, if several thousands Canadians were to flock to the U.S. everyday in search of a better job/life due to the poor conditions in Canada (theoretically in a scenario comparing Canada to Mexico's current state), would there be such an outcry?

Probably not as much, maybe a bit if all the stores had signs up in French alongside English with employees speaking French or something.

I could be wrong, there probably wouldnt be as much as an outcry, but honestly from 10 feet away if you saw a Canadian, would you know if he was Canadian without talking to him?

Historically the U.S. has always seen this from

a) English hatred towards Irish American immigrants
b) Integrated Americans hatred towards German, Jewish, Italian immigrants
c) hatred towards Asian immigrants
d) hatred towards Mexican immigrants

it never ends....

what we're seeing now isnt all that different, everything is cyclic.

I always have and will always think that the single common denominator that make recent issues different from the previous is that language issue. It is our fault for allowing and adopting methods to make it easier for immigrants to seemlessly come here without obligating them to learn English. No one to blame but people who weren't rigid enough to make policy/methods for immigrants to properly assimilate.

whoever drinks that Kool-Aid is stupid no disrespect to Billy, I don't think he wrote this, just posting an excerpt that happens to have a few nuggets of silly brainfarts.

The President has to work with what's handed to him?

so when you want to blame Congress, you absolve the President who all of a sudden is powerless?

but when you want to blame the President, Congress is largely ignored?

there is no law that suppressed Consumer confidence nor the inflation of gas prices. There may be laws and mitigating factors as well as many issues that all one way or another contribute to such

this doesn't matter for Democrats or Republicans, whoever is writing the criticism will spin the subject matter to his/her advantage.

There are numerous instances I'm sure that President Bush will/was blamed for something that largely was not his fault but Congress's.

yes again. We are that STUPID. LOL

How many zeros in a billion?

This is too true to be funny.

The next time you hear a politician use the
word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about
whether you want the 'politicians' spending
YOUR tax money.

A billion is a difficult number to comprehend,
but one advertising agency did a good job of
putting that figure into some perspective in
one of it's releases.

A.
A billion seconds ago it was 1959.

B.
A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.

C.
A billion hours ago our ancestors were
living in the Stone Age.

D.
A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.

E.
A billion dollars ago was only
8 hours and 20 minutes,
at the rate our government
is spending it.

While this thought is still fresh in our brain...
let's take a look at New Orleans ...
It's amazing what you can learn with some simple division.

Louisiana Senator,
Mary Landrieu (D)
is presently asking Congress for
250 BILLION DOLLARS
to rebuild New Orleans . Interesting number...
what does it mean?

A.
Well... if you are one of the 484,674 residents of New Orleans
(every man, woman, and child)
you each get $516,528.

B.
Or... if you have one of the 188,251 homes in
New Orleans , your home gets $1,329,787.

C.
Or... if you are a family of four...
your family gets $2,066,012.

Washington , D. C
