Default Patriots??

somebody explain this to me.

The NEP just traded Vrabel and Cassell to the KC for a freeking 2nd round draft pick......seems a little unbalanced to me. KC gets 2 players that can play right away and will start and gives up a 2nd rounder

Must be cap issues.....
Cassel had been franchised. For NE to get rid of him for a second rounder is pretty good for them assumimg Brady is healthy

Vrabel is on the downside now and has a pretty big cap number

However....as a Chiefs fan I love it for just what FF said....two plays that can start and play well for a second rounder (however #34 second rounder)

KC had PLENTY of cap room and should be in the market still to clear some more (LJ and possiabley Watters and Gonzalez)

I dont think Vrabel will be very effective at all. His days are done. He'll be like a Zach Thomas in DAL.

I hear its 18 million on the cap that NE saves by making this trade (14 for Cassel and 4 for Vrabel)

still a fishy trade seeing that Paoli just left NE and he's now picking up 2 players for basically nothing. Seems like a little insider to me. NEP probably needed cap space and they pretty much gave those 2 away to a "friend".

Vrable isn't washed up. He is on the down side of his career but still should be able to give the chiefs a couple more solid years. His numbers weren't too off of his career averages from what i saw.

Plus draft picks in the NFL are nebulous. I would much rather have a proven commodity than a draft pick. Just look at all the first round picks over the past 10 years who were busts...heck look at the top 10 in some of these drafts and it's bust city. You can find a guy in the 6th round who ends up being better than your 2nd rounder. So to cough up that pick is pretty much a joke for those 2 players IMO.

Guess both teams got what they wanted.
