Default Still perfect: May-Treanor, Walsh win again! #104

Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh stayed perfect in Olympic action with a victory over Norway's Nila Hakedal and Ingrid Torlen on Thursday.

With the 21-12, 21-15 win, the Americans extended their winning streak to 104-straight matches and closed out pool play with a 3-0 record. The duo has posted a 457-18 mark since winning gold at the 2004 Athens Games.

"It's one more win down, now we have to focus on the next one," May-Treanor said after the match.

May-Treanor and Walsh will next play in the elimination tournament, which begins Friday.

The Americans dominated the Norwegians on Day 6, leading by as many as 11 en route to winning the first set 21-12. Walsh, who struggled to return Norway's serve Thursday, had no trouble at the net, recording four blocks in the first set. The 6-foot-2 American, who turns 30 on Friday, had seven total blocks in the match.

Hakedal and Torlen started out strong in the second set, staying even with the Americans at 4-4 before May-Treanor and Walsh went on a 4-0 scoring run to jump into the lead. They closed out the set 21-15.

"They're a scrappy team, but I think we out-scrapped them," Walsh said.

I really wanted to see them play against Xue/Zhang Xi (the younger Chinese team), who had a great chance against Tian Jin/Wang but let that slip away. Would have been a closer match I think.
