Woods Woods Woods. Be afraid of Woods as it would be a shock if he didn't win a major this year. But this win at firestone does not mean he's a lock for the PGA, Woods owns this event and feels very comfortable there. I refuse to back Tiger, so here are my selections.
Justin Rose 30 to 1 : Backing Rose again who played very well at Firestone with a great final round in tough conditions. The PGA seems to be a good place to pick up your first major, it will probably play easier than Firestone. Has played excellent in the Majors this year finishing t5 at Augusta, t10 at Oakmont and t12 at Carnoustie. Expect a good showing this week. Andres Romero 66 to 1 : One of the hottest players in the world right now. Should have won the British Open but won the very next week in Europe. Then he comes to firestone and plays with Tiger the first two rounds. He held is own finishing t6, very impressive. His attacking style of play would suit the PGA Championship more than any other major even though he's played well in both British Opens. Look for his hot play to carry over this week. Scott Verplank 80 to 1: Won in his hometown of Dallas earlier this year and would love to win this tournament. Scott attended Oklahoma State and is very familiar with this course. At the 2001 US Open here he finished t22. In his last five events excluding the British Open, Scott has finished t9,t5,t7,t8 and t7. So is form is great and like the course. The only problem is Scott is a shaky closer. Hopefully his familiarity with the course will calm his nerves if he is in contention. |
