Best Book for Poker

um pretty self explanatory... strange thing is I love both poker & reading, yet have never read a book on poker. I've been playing since I was 13 or so (NL Holdem for 12 years or so) so I have the knowledge & instinct. I'm looking for the best book regarding advanced strategy, seem to remember RJP recommended one.....thanks in advance

Are you looking for a book on tournaments or cash games and LHE or NL?

Overall I would suggest:

Theory of Poker
Ace on the River (more of a life lesson book than strategy)
Super System II (obviously)


For tournaments I'd suggest the Harrington on Hold em Books.


For limit hold em I like Small Stakes Hold em.

For Tourneys In my mind there is no question "Dan Harrington's" book on tourney is the best I have read in sometime if not the best tourney type book ever.


I have also read around that when the book came out there where several pros very mad. From what I understand a guy who is still steamed about it is Eric Seidel. During a tournament this year Eric went right up to Harrington and asked him if he enjoyed the25K he made off his books.
