Stiff - I would never lay anything on any poker event. It's a complete stab in the dark as you said, and you are essentially just betting on some pro's luck to best a field of what will probably be 8-10K. It's hard enough for any established pro to win the event in the first place, nevermind picking the one out who does it.
I would immediately toss out Cunningham and Hachem for a few reasons. While I think Cunningham is one of the best 5-10 players in the world, the liklihood of him making back to back Final Tables in fields of 8k+ is simply next to nothing. As for Hachem, he played fantastic in last year's entire WSOP, and has even played well throughout the year (Aussie Millions, WPT stuff, etc) but I can't expect the guy to navigate all these people again. Like I said, I would never even bother playing someone to win the tourney (maybe maybe maybe the props where you pick 1 guy out of a grouping of 5 or the heads up plays), but even those are just dumb luck if you happen to pick the right guy or not. |

fyi, I cant recall where, but ive seen hachem at +8000.
I would never bet on moneymaker. IMO he is a horrible player that is the luckiest guy on earth to have ever won a tourney. Jamie Gold is a dipshit too. Id mix in Phil Ivey, Hellmuth as much as I dont like the guy and probably Howard Lederer despite his cold streak and maybe Barry Greenstein because theres something about him that tells me he's smarter than everybody else at the table ;)

I hate how ESPN reports who wins now. Makes it so much less fun to watch when you know the guy who wins can't lose certain hands and such. They reported today in a blurb on SportsCenter that Hellmuth won his 11th bracelet breaking his tie with Chan and Brunson. "Sports"Center should give up SPORTS info, and poker is not a sport and anyone who thinks it is is a freakin' moron.
I think Greenstein is a great player too but he seems to fair better in the cash games because he plays insanely tight. |

Anyone order the main event final table last year on ppv? I did with a couple of buddies of mine. Fun night watching that. I will be doing that again because it doesnt look like I will win a seat into it this year. Maybe next.

Yea, I think last year it was 20.00 and it was a fun time to watch. They show every hand of the final table. Last year it started at 5pm eastern and didnt end till almost 7am eastern the next day. They had Phil Gordon and some other guy as the announcers, it is well worth the 20.00 if you love poker and dont want to be spolied before it airs.

I was only gonna lay a buck on a few of those guys....just for some entertainment while watching it and they get in a big pot, lol. If i bet 5 or 10 guys and lose, i lose 5 or 10 bucks....no biggie.
And yes, poker is definitely NOT a sport....that's for damn sure. I was unaware they had the final table on PPV. Sounds cool, although I don't see myself sitting up all night watching it. I suppose I could buy it and tape it, but then again, that sorta ruins watching the rest of the shows leading up to it. ESPN is a bunch of cocks for announcing the winner before the final show airs too. They'd be better off airing it live if they wanted ratings IMO. But then it might interrupt their weekly Yankees game they have to air, and we wouldn't want that, lol. As far as the actual poker, I wouldn't bet a dollar on Moneymaker or Gold to win another main event if it paid 1,000,000 to 1. Both won on dumb luck, and IMO made some really really questionable plays and ended up hitting the cards. The only thing I thought Gold did half decently was use his big chip stack to his advantage decently. Typical online player type though. Keep making big bets and try to get a big stack, and either bust out in the first 5 hands, or accumulate a bunch of chips and then bet over the top of everyone who can't afford to call with a marginal hand since you have them outchipped 10/1 or alot more, and knows you'll just move them all in after the flop no matter what comes up, so you can't even call unless you hit trips or better. That's why I'm not a big fan of playing online in the first place, and I'm not a big fan of watching guys play like that on TV either. And I hope to hell that Molina guy is the first guy out this year. He's really an annoying jackass, and plus a crybaby. Worse than Hellmuth, lol. He looks like he's 13, and acts like it too. I wanna puke every time i see him. |

Yea, that Molina was a jackass last year.
Tourny starts this Friday. I really have to try and win a seat next year.

Dont look below.....Spoilers
Jerry Yang is totally dominating this final table. He has taken all three players out so far and is up to 62 million in chips. He started the day 8th in chips, amazing start for him.
