There are many variables a professional handicapper uses when he handicaps the day's games. These are variables that have a direct affect on the game, the meat and potatoes stats, injury info, hot/cold, pitcher vs. hitter etc type of stats. One may also use "trends" to help handicap a game, but the trends should be nothing more than supplemental information to help you form your opinion on which way your going to go in a game.

In no way, shape or form should a trend ever be the sole information used in helping you decide whether your going to bet on a game. The information simply isn't strong enough as a stand alone variable.

As some say, "let the trend be your friend" but don't let it be like your Mama or Daddy and authoritate what you do!

NFL Football Trends - From week 1 through 17, we post only trends that are relative to the current games. Don't get fired up at us if we don't post much, because between us, most trends are crap!

College Football Trends - There are some very interesting NCAA football trends including certain schools that always seem to beat up on another school. We'll list those as well as other interesting stats to help support your football selections.

NBA Basketball Trends - As we keep noting, we're not a huge fan of trends but we do tend to pay more attention to NBA trends more than any other sport. How do you explain the 2006 Golden State Warriors, a mediocre team that absolutely owns the Dallas Mavericks and had beaten them something like 16 out of their lsat 17 matchups. Did we mention that Dallas was the best team in the NBA in 2006/07? Some teams pose bad matchups for other teams. This is a great example of where a trend can be valuable. Over time as personnel changes, it will of course weaken and the info will be no good.

MLB Baseball Trends - These are great when factoring in team batting average over the past few games or bullpen era's over the last week or so. Still nothing that we'd solely base on a play on though.
