IDIOT PROOF will be great odds in here despite the fact that he beat likely third choice GREG’S GOLD in his last. The latter has a habit of getting himself in trouble and he’ll probably do the same in this race. IDIOT’S PROOF also has a smashing six furlong win in the Jersey Shore Breeders’ Cup-G3 at Monmouth and he looks like he can sit just off what should be an all out duel.

Second choice SMOKEY STOVER is another who looks like he can sit just back of a duel and he also has a good win at Monmouth in his last start. He’s won at numerous tracks and his trainer Greg Gilchrist is 37 percent off the layoff with a horse that won their last start. Fresh and ready.

The longshot speed is ATTILA’S STORM and he might just get the lead and the inside. He can be tough as nails at times and he’s already won at Monmouth. There’s a reasonable shot he can put away the outside speed in here and keep going to hold on for a piece.

Favorite MIDNIGHT LUTE should rate nicely off the speed but how far back is the question. He was impressive winning the 7-furlong FOREGO-G1 at Saratoga in his last and would not be a surprise winner here, we’re just not sure if six furlongs is his best distance.

Those looking for a rallier will likely be playing BENNY THE BULL, who could stalk a duel and finish well to take it all, but what about KELLY’S LANDING at a better price. He gets Frankie Dettori and has run a big number off a layoff in the past.

FOREFATHERS should be used in your trifectas simply because he tries and the race could set up for him. We also like the fact that Bill Mott trains him, Desormeaux rides and he could be totally overlooked in the wagering. His last race in the Jerome-G2 was decent and if an all out duel develops you never know.
