2007 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint Betting Analysis
Wagering Key: Win-Place-Show, Exacta, Trifecta, Superfecta, Pick 3, Daily Double.
The first running of the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint pits top 3-year-old fillies and likely favorites DREAM RUSH and LA TRAVIATA against each other and the best older mares in training. We think the elders have the edge in this one.
DREAM RUSH is no slouch and has been impressive in her last two races but her front-running style may work against her with fellow speedster LA TRAVIATA in the field. We'll be taking a close OPRAH WINNEY and MISS MACY SUE. The former should be pressing from the outset and she doesn't quit in the stretch. She also has a win at Monmouth to her credit. MISS MACY SUE has only lost once in her last six starts and that was only because of a rare bad ride by Prado. Now she gets regular rider Eusebio Razo Jr. back on, and he's a perfect 4-for-4 on her. She also drew the rail post.
WILD GAMS has a win at Monmouth and looked good coming from behind to win her last over the Polytrack at Keeneland but she'll need an all out battle up front early AND a bid battle on the turn to set up her late run. MARYFIELD was all out to win the Ballerina-G1 going seven furlongs in her last but she did defeat fellow entrants BARONESS THATCHER and MIARCULOUS MISS in that race. We like the Argentina import JAZZY better than the aforementioned trio, especially for the trifecta. She rated nicely in her last and fought gamely in the drive to prevail.
