2008 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Preview
Stardom Bound looked good winning the Oak Leaf in her last at this distance over the Santa Anita Pro-Ride, the only question is whether she beat anything or not. She'll certainly be meeting a few in here that are classier than what she's faced and she'll be coming from the clouds late, which could cost her if any of her new rivals can handle the surface switch. She will be favored off her key prep win and favorites win this race at 58 percent clip. And if you're a karma player, you should also note that the owners of Stardom Bound could both be out of the game next year due to illness.
There are a few in here eligible to improve off their preps including Sky Diva, an impressive winner of the Frizette at Belmont, and Dream Empress, winner of the Alcibades at Keeneland, but we'll probably also take a shot with Doremifasollatido, who won the seven furlong Matron at Belmont in her last. Trained by Jimmy Jerkens, the latter will have to overcome her wide post, but she looks like she could be the first to make a bid in the stretch. There should be enough speed in here to set the race up for a closer, and if she can wait, pounce and open up at just the right time, she might hold on for longer than expected. Still, we're leaning towards Stardom Bound as our main key here.
