There's some good money to be won when betting on baseball team season wins.
Each year before the Major League Baseball season starts, bookmakers set a number of wins for each team. You are then able to bet whether a team will go over or under that number for total wins by the team during the regular season.
We have two conflicting thoughts on placing such a wager:
1. These bets are very easy to beat because the number of wins the bookie sets on bad teams is usually too low. The number of wins set on the good teams is usually too high. In summary, there's great value in betting ON bad teams and betting AGAINST good teams.
2. Now that we've mentioned the good, we'll mention the thing we don't like about these type of wagers. You have to tie your money up for the whole season in order to play them! So, whether you decide to play this type of bet depends on how patient you are and if your bankroll can sustain having part of itself tied up for the better part of 6-7 months while your investment matures. Yes, we did call this an investment as in our estimation these are some of the easiest bets to beat consistently in all of gambling. As of time of print, the current MLB season has started so there's no current odds for us to post. On the flip side, many betting exchanges offer live in-running prop bets that cover this type of wager so you may still be able to get in on the action after the season has started as sports betting exchanges allow you to buy in and sell out of positions at any given time.
A baseball team must play at least 160 games for wagers on its season wins to have action.
