2008 NBA Draft Day Trades

2008 NBA Draft Day Trades
by Predictem.com Staff

Some BIG trades were made today both involving draft picks and star players from numerous NBA teams.

For the 2nd or is it the 3rd year in a row, it appears that Portland Trailblazers GM Kevin Pritchard leaves draft day 2008 with yet another caper for his organization as the Blazers drafted Brandon Rush at 13 and then promptly packaged him along with guard J. Jack (who appeared to be an odd man out in Portland) and sparsely used big man Josh McRoberts to the Indiana Pacers for Jerryd Bayless and Forward Ike Diogu, a move that almost created an earthquake in Portland from all the people jumping up and down. How does Pritchard continue to pull rabbit's out of hats?

The Minnesota T-Wolves have said to have agree in principle to trade the 3rd pick O.J. Mayo along with Marko Jaric, Antoine Walker and Greg Buckner to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for big man Kevin Love, gunner Mike Miller, reserve Brian Cardinal and stiff big-man Jason Collins.

The Nets sent Richard Jefferson to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for oft-injured g/f Bobby Simmons and forward Yi Jianlian who never really wanted to be in Milwaukee in the first place. Jefferson should get his fair share of shots in Milwaukee, especially if Michael Redd leaves as it appears he's going to.

The Miami Heat acquired the draft rights to Mario Chalmers for two future second-round picks and cash considerations.

The Boston Celtics acquired the draft rights to Bill Walker from the Washington Wizards in exchange for cash considerations.

The Spurs made a deal for Malik Hairston, a second-round pick in 2009 and cash considerations from the Suns in exchange for the draft rights to Goran Dragic.

The Clippers received the draft rights to Mike Taylor from the Blazers in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2009 draft.

The Pistons nabbed the draft rights to Walter Sharpe and Trent Plaisted from the Seattle Supersonics in exchange for the draft rights to D.J. White.

lastly, in a 3 team deal, the Blazers obtained the draft rights to Nicolas Batum from the Rockets; Houston acquires the draft rights to Donte Greene and a second-round pick next year (2009) from Memphis plus Joey Dorsey from Portland; Memphis acquires the draft rights to Darrell Arthur from Portland. A move worth watching as all players involved have some great upside potential.
