2008 NBA Slam Dunk Contest

2008 NBA Slam Dunk Contest Betting Odds and Picks to Win
by Predictem.com Staff

This year's NBA Slam Dunk Contest pits 4 of the NBA's best power dunkers against each other and unlike other years contest, we think this one is quite a bit easier to handicap. Let's take a look at the contestants along with our thoughts and picks to win.

Our Winner: Gerald Green: The Minnesota Timberwolves Forward is the defending champ and for good reason. He can flat out get it done with the roundball. The 6'8" great is an explosive power dunker and has sick hang time. He gets up QUICK and on some occasions by the time he's loading up for a stuff he's looking down into the basket! He has an excellent "Domique Wilkins'esque" windmill that will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. He is our pick to win the contest and we firmly believe he will defend his title.
Gerald Green is currently q11/5 (2.2-1) odds to win the 2008 Slam Dunk Contest at Sportsbook.com. (Your credit card will work here!)

Our Darkhorse: Jamario Moon: This former community college player and the only rookie competing in this year's event is a 6'8" power dunker that has good hops and that can get creative which is key for this event. We like the combination of his hang time and ability to do different things with the ball while in the air. He's got a shot.
Toronto Raptor Forward Jamario Moon is currently 3-1 odds to win the 2008 Slam Dunk Contest at Sportsbook.com. (Highest Visa acceptance rate in the industry!)

Best of the Rest: Dwight Howard: This "Magic" tower of power stands at 6-10 and few can throw it down with as much authority as Dwight Howard. He is also probably going to have the most fans behind him since he's easily the biggest name in the contest as he's popular from coast to coast. He'll have to do something extra special though to win this event as watching a big man dunk isn't as spectacular as watching the small players. If he can get creative enough, he'll have a shot. We don't think he does it this year though.
Dwight Howard is currently 5-2 (2.5-1) to be deeemed the best dunker in the NBA at Sportsbook.com.

Nope: Rudy Gay: We're not counting the 6'9" Rudy Gay as a possibility here. He's a great "in-game" dunker for the Memphis Grizzlies but he lacks the hang time and creativity to win this event.

On an unrelated note, it's too bad that the Spurs waived James White. The little known name can throw down a free throw line dunk "ala Dr. J". Oh well, it should be a fun event to watch anyway! Good lets with the bets!
