Greg Oden Injury

Greg Oden Injury
by Predictem.com Staff

The Portland Trailblazers were looking for big things this year from former Ohio State seven foot center Greg Oden. Unfortunately those plans will be put on hold for the next year as it's been found that Oden has a serious but fixable injury called articular cartilage damage in his right knee.

Doctors familiar with the procedure say that the healing process usually takes 6-12 months. You can bet that the Portland Trailblazers Administration will be taking no chances with their players of the future and will be giving him all the time he needs to heel 100%.

Dr. Don Roberts was the physician who performed the surgery on the 7-footer. The Doc noted that the injured area was not large and they were able to treat it with micro fracture, something that stimulates the growth of cartilage. He noted that he expects a full recovery.

Oden will begin therapy after being on crutches for what is said to be eight weeks.

Blazers GM Kevin Pritchard was quoted as saying that it's disappointing however the team will move on with its great core of talented players and strong character.

The injury leaves many questioning whether the Blazers did the right thing with the number one pick. Especially after horror stories of passing up on Michael Jordan and drafting Sam Bowie who never quite fulfilled expectations in the Rose City.

We here at Predictem feel that the Blazers did the right thing and while only time will tell, you can never pass up on a big man with the talent of Greg Oden. Sure, Kevin Durant will have a great career but good big men like Greg only come along every so often. Blazer fans will one day forget the injury and likely enjoy the one or more championships he brings to Rip City.
