The Arizona Cardinals came into their home field last weekend winners of just one at home. They needed a win at the University of Phoenix Stadium just to keep them sane as they are undefeated on the road this year but have struggled at home.

It didn’t look good for the Cards early on as they quickly fell behind the Seahawks last weekend 14-0. But it wasn’t long before the running of Beanie Wells and the veteran play of Cardinal QB Kurt Warner showed their potential. The Cards steadily climbed back into the game beginning with a 28-yard touchdown pass from Warner to Steve Breaston (I wonder what his nickname is?) followed by a 27-yard Neil Rackers field goal to make it a 17-10.

Beanie Wells added two touchdowns, one in the third and another in the fourth to put the Cardinals up 24-20. But the Hawks were still threatening until Kurt Warner hit Larry Fitzgerald on an 11-yard TD pass to put the game out of reach. Warner was 29 of 38 for 340 yards and 2 touchdowns. Wells carried the pigskin 16 times for 85 yards but he was more likely to be remembered for his aggressive running style. Wells stiff armed and rumbled his way through veteran players all game long. He definitely feels comfortable in the league, and last week versus the Seahawks he showed what he was capable of doing.

On the other side of the field this weekend will be the struggling St. Louis Rams. The Rams probably wish they could go back to the glory days when Kurt Warner lined up behind center for them. Even though the Rams gave New Orleans a tough ballgame last week they still found themselves on the short end of the stick in the end as they lost to the Saints 28-23.

The Rams QB Marc Bulger was 26 of 40 for 298 yards and 2 touchdowns. Bulger also had one interception. Rams running back Steven Jackson had his fifth 100-yard rushing game. Jackson carried the ball 26 times for 131 yards and 1 touchdown. Wide receiver Donnie Avery pulled in 4 passes for 67 yards and 2 TDs in the effort.

The line on this game opened at St. Louis +9.5 with a total of 46.5. Remember to check your favorite online casinos to see the most current lines. Most offshore sportsbooks will post as early as Sunday night and make adjustments throughout the week accordingly.

Arizona comes into this game averaging 25 points per contest and allowing 20.4 ppg to their opponents. The Cards are 4-0 on the road. The Rams enter this weekend’s game averaging just 11 points per effort! Ouch! They give up 27.7 to their competition. The Rams are 0-4 at home.

The Cardinals have outscored the Rams 116-42 in their last three meetings, and this weekend may be more of the same if Warner and Wells keep firing on all cylinders. The Rams have a couple weapons but they just don’t have the whole package. It’s hard to compete with most teams when you can only score a TD and a FG each game.

The Cardinals are 4-0 SU, 4-0 ATS, and 2-2 O/U on the road this season. The Rams are 0-4 SU, 1-3 ATS, and 4-0 O/U at home this season. Arizona is playing well as they have won 4 of their last 5 games while St. Louis has lost 4 of their last 5 games.

Kurt Warner will put a little extra mustard on the ball this weekend against his old team, and look for Wells to break out even more than he did in the Hawks game.

Wilson’s Pick: Arizona 24, St. Louis 17. Luck to ya.
