Week 11 will feature a inter-conference clash between the NFC Northís Chicago Bears and the NFC Eastís New York Giants will face off at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey with a 1:00 PM ET scheduled kick-off. The game is set to be aired on FOX in selected demographics. Both teams enter on differing notes as the Giants come in off their fourth consecutive win against the Cincinnati Bengals, where the Giants won 21-20. As for Chicago, they continue to struggle mightily hoping to piece together a third win this season. The Bears were frankly outclassed by the Buccaneers, last Sunday in Tampa Bay.
The Bears have had an unbearable season, no pun intended. The Bears have lost seven games already and look like a franchise in complete disarray. The Windy Cityís Monsters of the Midway have looked anything but ferocious. The high water mark for this franchise this season is the fact they own wins over the two teams that have sat on top of their division at some point this season, the Detroit Lions and the Minnesota Vikings. The Bears are 0-5 on the road but at home they are 2-2, picking up the wins against those aforementioned opponents. The Bears offense has only scored more than 20 points on two occasions this season and in those games they are 1-1 overall. Chicago most recently comes off a heinous rout on the road where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers went to town on the Bears winning 36-10. The highlight of the affair was quarterback Jameis Winston escaping pressure to find wide-out Mike Evans down the field who made a spectacular grab. The Bears won the last meeting between them and the Giants in 2013 when they had Matt Forte in their ranks by a score of 27-21.
The Giants come in off a 21-20 win against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night, preceded by a huge win when the Giants took down their arch rivals the Philadelphia Eagles. The entire country bore witness to the Giants victory in prime time and likely a reaction is being fostered at the expense of the Bengals this week. The G-Men continue to win and their talent continues to perform at a high level. The stock in the Giants in just a few weeks may be quickly approaching the ceiling, especially as the Cowboys continue to win games making their sole defeat to the Giants a resume booster for Big Blue. The lack of offense on Chicago coupled with the Giantsí evolving attack makes the G-Men seem like a very tasty play this week.
Itís tempting to play the team with the hot hand and once again attack this situation from the perspective of home field advantage. The Giants have been a problem for all that dare enter MetLife Stadium. Most recently, the Giants have taken down Cincinnati but they also own wins over Philadelphia, New Orleans and Baltimore. Despite looking rather uninspired in the beginning of the season, the Giants continue to execute and find ways to win. As a result of their successes coupled with the defeats of Chicago, the varying stock in both teams is driving this market. Suddenly, so many were unsure of New York until they continued to win. The reaction just follows suit.
To many the Bears are the next sacrificial lamb due up to wade in to the rigorous, in-your-face environment of MetLife Stadium. The price here is to encourage action on the Bears as no one wants a piece of Chicago. The reaction has gone the other way as everyone sees this is as pick-ems for the Giants. In the past we have been proponents of taking the Giants even when spotting points. However, there is a good chance here the price is too expensive. The Giants are proven to be a strong at MetLife Stadium, the Bears are 0-5 on the road. This narrative plays psychological games with anyone looking at this game. We are going to go ahead and take the Bears who looking to change their fortune give the Giants a scare.
