This Sunday, December 15, the Houston Texans will head to Northeast to take on the Indianapolis Colts. Indy comes into this game at 8-5 and in most divisions, if not all of them throughout the entire NFL, this record would have you in a struggle to not only win your division, but you would have a little work to do to make the post season in general. Well, the Colts at 8-5 have a strangle hold on the AFC South division. With Houston and Jacksonville stinking up the league, and the Titans just being the mediocre Titans, the Colts pretty much have the division title sealed up. Houston on the other hand...my oh my, what a mess they are. The Texans have dropped into dead last in the division, and have gone so cold, that they are two games behind the Jaguars. Now that sucks. Indianapolis comes into this game as a 6 point favorite over the lowly Texans. With the eleven game losing streak, the firing of head coach Gary Kubiak, and just the overall sucking of the Texans, one would think that they Colts win this one with ease. But...its the NFL, so you never know!
The Colts have all but wrapped up the AFC South, but lately they have not looked as good as they did earlier in the season. They have dropped two of their last three, and the two losses were humiliating. This past Sunday, the Bengals pounded them 42-28, and then a few weeks ago they suffered a staggering defeat to the Rams by a score of 40-11. The running game has been the weakness for the Colts. Actually, the running game on both sides of the ball has been the weakness. The Colts are only gaining a little over 100 yards a game on the ground, while they are giving up over 130 per contest. Andrew Luck has played well, but the kid can't do this all by himself. In order to win this game, and cover the six, the Colts need to play defense. Houston has had turnover problems all season long, and if the Colts can D up and keep that trend going, they should be ok. However, if Indy plays lackluster defense and cannot run the ball themselves, they could very easily lose this game.
Betting Tip: You go to the store to buy something. One product is $110 and one is $105. EXACT same product. Which do you buy? The cheaper one! Of course! So why are you still laying -110 odds on football games whn you could be laying -105 at 5Dimes?
Houston we have a problem. My god, these guys stink. They started 2-0 and looked like they were on their way to the Super Bowl, or at least a deep playoff run. Well, since that 2-0 start, they haven't been on the winning side of a game yet. If I told you back in August that the Texans would endure an 11 game winning streak during this season, you would think I had lost my mind. The really sad thing is the fact that they aren't just losing...they are losing bad..to bad teams. Houston was swept this season by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Not only did they get swept by a team that started 0-8, they also dropped a game to Oakland, then lost to Tennessee. Houston has given up. They have played with absolutely no heart and no will to win. Head coach Gary Kubiak was fired this week after their loss to the Jaguars 27-20. I guess Kubiak is the one who was missing tackles and throwing pick sixes all season. If Houston is going to win this game, or better yet, compete in this game, they just need to show some heart. They are still the more talented team. On paper they should be at about 9-10 wins already this season, but like the old saying goes; "That's why you play the games." Wade Phillips will be stepping in as interim coach for the Texans...will they show some heart and play for Wade? Or will they fold like they have done for the last two months?
Bob's Pick to Cover the Point Spread: I am going to keep it real while I pick this game. Houston sucks. They have shown no heart, no desire, no attitude, no killer instinct, and to be honest, just no professionalism during this 11 game losing streak. When I say Houston sucks, I don't even mean just the team. Their fans cheered as their starting QB, Matt Schaub, who was injured was helped off the field. That is just flat out trashy. When I saw that, I told myself that that franchise and fanbase didn't deserve to win...and they haven't won since and in my opinion rightfully so. Speaking of class, Andrew Luck may be learning the quarterback position on the field, but he has been total class off the field. Every situation Luck has been in, both good and bad, he has handled with dignity and integrity. This kid has a great future ahead of him. Ok, I am not even going to spit out percentages and numbers for this pick. Indy is going to kill Houston. Houston will go on the road, and just like the last eleven games, find a way to screw it up and lose. Indy wins this game 31-17. PICK THE COLTS -6
