The Jacksonville Jaguars are coming into this game as winners of four out of their last five games. The Jaguars beat the Buffalo Bills 18-15 last weekend while the 49ers lost to the Green Bay Packers 30-24. San Francisco has dropped four out of their last five contests.

San Francisco’s QB, Alex Smith, was 16 of 33 for 227 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Packers last week but it was still not enough to out gun the Green Bay squad. Smith also had one interception in the loss. Smith connected 6 times with Vernon Davis who finished with 108 yards receiving and a touchdown.
49ers head coach Mike Singletary said that his team was either digging themselves into a big hole early or not getting out of it, or they get a lead and get too comfortable, which seems to bite them in the end. If the 49ers expect to play with the Jaguars they had better think about getting the lead early and adding to it often as the Jags will certainly bring their hardnosed defense.
Jacksonville is feeling pretty good about the last three weeks as they enter this weekend’s game on a three game winning streak. Jaguar’s QB David Garrard was 21 of 30 for 215 yards 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Garrard hooked up with wide receiver Mike Sims-Walker for a 3 yard TD pass with just 56 seconds left in the game. It was Garrard’s second game winning drive in as many weeks and he now has three game winning drives in his 58 career starts.
The over is 6-2 in Jaguars last 8 games on grass, but the under is 6-2 in Jag’s last 8 games on the road. San Francisco is 9-3-3 ATS in their last 15 games overall.
The QB matchup may favor Jacksonville’s David Garrard as of late because of his recent game winning drives and overall play. Garrard is playing very well at the moment and when a quarterback is in a groove it can be difficult to derail him. However, Alex Smith did toss three TDs last week in a losing effort, so he is capable of getting the job done as well, but the difference will be Garrard’s confidence from finishing games and actually earning the wins- the NFL is all about who can close out games.
Both of these teams matchup well on paper, and I anticipate a close game on the field too. Head Coach Mike Singletary will have his guys dialed in come Sunday afternoon. There’s nothing better than a couple of former NFL linebacker legends going head to head but this time they are wearing head phones and calling the shots! Jaguar Head Coach, Jack Del Rio will certainly look forward to the defensive battle.
Jacksonville has won the last four meetings between the two teams. The Jaguars are winners of 6 of their last 10 games while the Niners have won 4 of their last 10.
The Jaguars are playing some good football right now and it will take a great defensive effort by the 49ers to interrupt their streak.
