Brett Favre and the Vikings will travel to the desert this week to take on the Cardinals. Favre is arguably playing the best football of his career as the Vikings boast a 10-1 record after beating the Chicago Bears 36-10 last Sunday. Meanwhile, the Cardinals are coming off of a late game loss to the Tennessee Titans 20-17.

The Cardinals had a three game win streak come to an end in Nashville last Sunday when QB Vince Young of the Titans led a 99-yard drive in which he converted three fourth down plays. Young tossed a last second touchdown pass for the win.

The Cardinal’s backup QB Matt Leinart started over Kurt Warner as Warner had an issue with his eyes. Lienart threw for 220 yards on 21 of 31 passing and zero touchdowns. However, Lienart did lead the team on an 80-yard drive that appeared to be the game clinching TD when running back Tim Hightower scored on a 6-yard run. But once again, Vince Young got the best of Lienart just like he did in the 2006 Rose Bowl when he was at Texas and Lienart was directing USC. Lienart responded after the game by saying that Young played fantastic and the Card’s defense was phenomenal but Young just made great plays against them.

Arizona drops to 7-4 on the season but are still very much alive. The Cards continue to sit at the top of the NFC West with a two game lead over San Francisco. Arizona’s head coach said the loss last Sunday was nearly the same feeling he had when they lost to the Steelers last year in the superbowl.

Brett Favre hit seven different receivers last Sunday while picking apart the Bear’s defense. Favre had 392 yards on 32 of 48 passing and 3 touchdowns. I’m not sure if Favre can be any better at this point as he is simply playing lights out every week. The big question is who will stop him? Will it be Arizona this week that finally gets Favre to play average? The Vikings are quite possibly the most dangerous team right now because of Father Favre’s brilliant play. The threat of Peterson and four other guys rushing the ball coupled with seven passing targets makes the Vikings nearly impossible to guess on offense. Teams have no choice but to respect every down.

The Vikings are 4-1 SU, 4-1 ATS, and 3-2 O/U on the road this season. The Cardinals are 2-3 SU, 2-3 ATS, and 2-3 O/U at home this year. The Vikings have won two of the last three meetings against the Cards.

Minnesota is averaging 31 points per game with 260 passing yards and 129 yards on the ground. The Vikes give up 18.5 ppg with 222 yards in the air and 81 yards rushing. Arizona averages 24 points per game with 265 yards passing and 92 yards rushing. The Cards allow 19 ppg to their opponents. They give up 258 yards through the air and 108 on the ground.

Minnesota has won four of their last five games while Arizona has won two of their last five contests.

Brett Favre is on fire this season and I don’t see things cooling off this week in the desert. The Cardinals will need to find a way to pressure Favre without giving up coverage, and then there is the running game to worry about as well.

Wilson’s Pick: Minnesota keeps on rolling regardless of who the Cards have at QB. Minnesota 35, Arizona 24. Luck to ya.
