The New York Giants have not lost to the Washington Redskins since the 2007 season, but that streak may be in jeopardy in this game with all the issues on D the Giants have. First round pick CB Prince Amukamara and 2nd round pick DE Marvin Austin and DE Osi Umenyiora and CB Terrell Thomas are all out due to injuries. However, can the Redskins, who named Rex Grossman the starting QB and have a suspect rushing offense, take advantage of it? Big question baby.

The Over/Under for this game is only 37.5 and I think that is low since the Giants have a banged up defense and while the Redskins have high hopes on defense this season they were terrible on that side of the ball last season.

The Redskins made some great free agent moves, especially on defense, but they have question marks not only at the QB and RB positions but also on the O-line and with their WR corps. Still, the Redskins went 3-1 in the preseason beating the Steelers, Colts, and Bucs and losing a close one to the Ravens.

Grossman has looked good in the preseason and he will up against a secondary of the Giants that is missing some key pieces. The line will protect Grossman and give him time to throw, which is key in this game. Still, with Mike Shanahan at the helm and a banged up and thin D line of the Giants the Skins will pound the ball on the ground. Free agent addiction RB Tim Hightower and the young RB duo of Ryan Torain and Roy Helu will get it done in this game.

The main weakness for the Giants' defense last season was giving up the big play. However, with Grossman under center the Redskins will not take a lot of shots down the field, so the Giants will not get burned deep.

The Redskins will need last season's #4 overall draft pick LT Trent Williams to step up and play well and the line has to keep the solid pass rush of the Giants from getting to the QB. Grossman is not nimble and will be taken down a few times, but he will have his chances to make some plays.

The one strength for the Redskins this season may be their defense. Yeah, they ranked 26th against the run and 31st against the pass last season, but that was last season. They have a 3-4 D with a young and talented front line and stud OLB Brian Orakpo and rookie OLB Ryan Kerrigan. Along with LB London Fletcher and the safety tandem of LaRon Landry and O.J. Atogwe things are looking up on defense.

The Giants' RB duo of Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs will get a lot of touches in this game, but they will not light up the Redskins on the ground. Eli Manning threw 25 picks last season and he will miss the WR tandem of Steve Smith and Kevin Boss. The Giants still have WR's Mario Manningham and Hakeem Nicks and they will give the DB's of the Redskins fits in this game.

In some betting trends dating back to last season Washington is 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games and has an Under record of 6-1 in their last 7 games.

New York is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games as a road favorite of 0.5-3 and is 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games.

The Giants are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games facing the Redskins.

Jason's Pick to Cover the Point Spread: Nobody is giving the Redskins much of a chance this season and with good reason, but I think they will be better than last season, especially on defense. Last season the Skins won and covered the spread against Dallas at home in the season opener and they will do the same in this game with a win, snapping their losing streak against the Giants.
