The Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys both enter the Thanksgiving Day matchup after squeaking out wins last week in the final moments of their games. Oakland recovered a fumble that led to a last minute touchdown over the Cincinnati Bengals 20-17. Dallas scored a late touchdown as well to outlast the Washington Redskins 7-6.
The Cowboy’s Tony Romo completed 10 consecutive passes during the final drive with the last pass a 10-yard touchdown to Patrick Crayton with just over 2 minutes to go in the game. It would be just enough for the Cowboys victory; ugly, but a win in the end.
Romo was 15 of 27 for 158 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Running back Marion Barber toted the pigskin 20 times for 99 yards. But the Cowboys offense sputtered all day especially behind Romo’s 158 yard performance which was his lowest output of the season. Romo apparently hurt his back in the first quarter after a tackle attempt and he played through the pain but it definitely hampered his play. Despite the poor performance Romo did improve his career record to 14-2 in the month of November.
Dallas comes into this matchup averaging 23.1 points per game while they allow 17.5 to their opponents. The Cowboys give up 230 yards per game in passing and 100 on the ground.
Oakland is averaging just 10.8 points per contest, and they give up 23.4 to the opposition. The Raiders allow 207 yards through the air and 159 on the turf.

The Raiders are still trying to figure things out at QB, but it appears that Bruce Gradkowski is the guy behind center for right now. Gradkowski replaced JaMarcus Russell as the starting QB after Russell’s continued lapses and lack of leadership. When asked about Gradkowski’s play one Raider player said he was motivated by Gradkowski’s passion for the game and his desire and enthusiasm to make plays.

Obviously Russell is a great athlete but some critics are suggesting that his 31 million dollar guarantee may have served as a career killer. It would be interesting to see how players would perform if they were paid by their performance and numbers; kind of like a sales person who must close a certain amount of deals each month or week. In any event, the Raiders seem to have a bit of a spark with Gradkowski on the field.
Gradkowski finished with 183 yards on 17 of 34 passing but he also had 2 picks. The Raiders had plenty of help from Cincinnati’s 4 turnovers which ultimately led to the win. Oakland will take a win when ever and where ever they can.
The line on this game opened at Dallas -13.5 with a total of 40.5. Most online casino sportsbooks are showing the Cowboys -10 to -11 with the O/U also at 40.5.
The Cowboys are always tough at home especially on Thanksgiving Day. Both teams are struggling offensively and they have a short week to prepare, so this game could be sloppy based on last week’s performances. I like the boy’s to step up on their own field. Dallas is the better team at this point, and Romo has the upper hand in the QB matchup.
