The New York Giants are off to a hot start at 3-1 after three straight wins, including two straight road wins. Now, the G-men go back home to host the Seattle Seahawks, a 1-3 team considered near the bottom of the NFL power rankings. But the Giants can't take them easy. Can Eli Manning and the Giants continue their hot start and improve to 4-1?
Manning has been very impressive in the first four games. He has thrown for 1,066 yards, eight touchdowns and two interceptions with a 64.0 completion percentage. Hakeem Nicks, just like when he emerged last season, is once again Manning's top target. Nicks has 24 receptions for 347 yards and two touchdowns. Mario Manningham has struggled with injuries this season but is the No. 2 receiver when healthy. However, Victor Cruz has emerged as a reliable option for the Giants. He has 11 receptions for 225 yards and two touchdowns, most of which came during a breakout game against the Eagles. Then, of course there is Ahmad Bradshaw, who splits carries with Brandon Jacobs and catches passes out of the backfield. Bradshaw has 228 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns, 15 receptions, 119 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.
The Giants started the season with an unimpressive 28-14 loss to the Redskins. A 28-16 win over the Rams in Week 2 didn't prove much. But it was their 29-16 road win at Philadelphia in Week 3 that really proved that the Giants are for real. They then followed that up with another road win, 31-27 at Arizona, after trailing 20-10. If the Giants can get two more wins at home over the Seahawks and Bills in the next two weeks going into their bye week, they will be looked at as one of the top teams in the NFC.

The Seahawks were expected to be one of the worst teams in the NFL this season, and they haven't really done too much to prove otherwise, but they have had some positive moments. A 33-17 loss to the 49ers and a 24-0 loss to the Steelers to start the season proved that notion that they seemed like a cellar-dweller. But a 13-10 win over the Cardinals and then a down-to-the-wire 30-28 loss to the Falcons showed that they might not be as bad as advertised and that they can at least compete with teams at home. But now the Seahawks must go back on the road where they had no success during the first two weeks of the season.
Tavaris Jackson has been mediocre at quarterback for the Seahawks. He has 846 passing yards, five passing touchdowns, four interceptions and a 62.2 completion percentage. He has also rushed for 61 yards and a rushing touchdown. Marshawn Lynch and the Seahawks running game haven't given Jackson much help at all. Lynch has just 141 rushing yards and one touchdown in four games. A big boost in the last two games has been Sidney Rice, who missed the first two games with an injury. Since he's been back, the Seahawks have played much better and competed in both of their last two games. Rice has 11 receptions for 188 yards and a touchdown in two games.
In order for the Seahawks to keep this game close and give themselves a chance to win, they will have to control the ball and play solid defense. They have to keep the game low scoring and manage the game. If they can move the ball on the ground with Lynch and if Jackson can be efficient through the air, they'll be able to keep the Giants offense off the field. Then, they'll have to keep the Giants out of the end zone as much as possible to keep the game close. If the Seahawks aren't able to consistently convert first downs, the Giants will score points and take control of the game.
The Seahawks are 4-0 ATS in their last four games on fieldturf. The Giants are 0-6 ATS in their last six games vs. teams with a losing record. The over is 11-2 in the Seahawks' last 13 games vs. the NFC.
Ryno's Pick to Cover the Point Spread: Seattle isn't as bad as most think. Take those juicy points and I'll see you at the cashier's cage at the end of the game.
