In one of the biggest rivalries in the NFL this Sunday the Dallas Cowboys host the Washington Redskins. This rivalry has lost its luster in the past few years, but it is still pretty big. The Cowboys are still in 1st place in the tough NFC East even though they lost to Green Bay in their last game. The Redskins really needed a win, as their season has been a major disappointment and they did just that beating the struggling Denver Broncos last Sunday. The Redskins got back to their bread and butter, which was running the ball and playing solid defense. They will have to do that again in this game against a Dallas team that had major offensive struggles in their loss to Green Bay.
This last Sunday the Redskins beat the Denver Broncos 27-17 and the Cowboys lost to the Green Bay Packers 17-7.
The Redskins finally ended their 4-game losing streak beating the Broncos at home this last Sunday. After surrendering 14 points in the 1st quarter the Redskins' D stepped up only allowing Denver to score 3 more points in the game. One of the main reasons the Redskins won the game is that they out-gained the Broncos on the ground 174 yards to 120 yards and RB Ladell Betts had 114 rushing yards and 1 TD. The Skins also did not commit any turnovers, which has killed them this season. The Redskins were underdogs by 3.5 points so they covered the spread and the posted total of 36.5 points was surpassed.
In their loss to the Green bay Packers this last Sunday the Cowboys could not get any offense going and did not score until late in the 4th quarter. What killed the Cowboys were turnovers (3) and penalties, as even though the Packers had more penalties for more yards the Cowboys penalties came at inopportune times. The Packers dominated in terms of time of possession (35:58 to 24:02). The Cowboys have a solid rushing offense, but they only had 61 yards in the loss. QB Tony Romo struggled in the game going for 251 yards passing with 1 TD and 1 INT in the red zone. The Cowboys were favored by 3 points so they did not cover the spread and the posted total for the game of 48 was nowhere near being reached.
The Redskins have a legit chance to win this game, especially if both teams play like they did this last Sunday.
The Redskins' defense ranks 6th in the league, but they are having their issues stopping the run giving up an average of 125.7 rushing yards per game.
Tony Romo leads the Cowboys and their 4th ranked offense and he has to play better in this game. Romo was sacked 4 times in the Green Bay game and the Dallas offensive line has to protect him in this one since the Redskins have a solid pass rush with 24 sacks this season.
Dallas is legit at stopping the run, but their secondary has given up an average of 227.4 passing yards per game. Skins' QB Jason Campbell has not had a good year, but he has to play well in this game, especially if the Cowboys can stuff the run.

The Redskins have allowed 31 sacks this season and the main key for the Redskins on offense in this game will be how their offensive line plays. They not only have to protect Campbell, but they also have to open up holes for the running game.
