Real Madrid Agrees to Deal with Star Striker Karim Benzema
by Jason Green of Predictem.com
It seems as the rich keep getting richer this off-season, as Real Madrid seems to have reached an agreement with French club Olympique Lyonnais to sign the much sought after Karim Benzema for €35 million. According to reports in Spain the deal will be made official on a couple of days.
Both AS and Marca have stated that the star striker will become the fourth big off-season signing by Real Madrid. As Manchester United were about to make a move, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez pulled the trigger on this deal to make sure that talks resumed and that a deal was made so Benzema would not be playing on another pitch.
Benzema is a 21 year old forward and he is on summer holiday until the 1st or 2nd of July when he returns he is set to talk with Lyon coach Claude Puel to see what he wants to do. It has been reported in Spain that he will be told by Lyon that the deal is done and it will be best for him if he makes a quick decision on whether to sign with the Spanish giants or not. Basically, according to reports from Spain, the deal is done and Benzema only has to agree to it.
Benzema has given mixed signals on what he wants to do, he has stated he wants to play for an elite club in Europe, but he has also stated he would like to stay with Lyon the year prior to the World Cup.
Lyon's president Jean-Michel Aulas wants to get this situation done quickly, not matter which way it goes, so Puel can get to rebuilding the Lyon club.
Recently Kaka was presented to thousands of Real Madrid fans on Tuesday at the Bernabeu. Perez said that another new player for Real will be presented soon and it led to a lot of speculation that Benzema will be that player.
