Valencia's David Villa set to Sign with Barcelona
by Jason Green of Predictem.com
Barcelona have to make some big deals in order to keep up with their rivals Real Madrid, who have had a stellar off-season with all the stars they have brought to Spain's capital. It looks as if Barcelona is close to making a big deal that would bring in the one player they wanted the most in Valencia's David Villa. Valencia and Barcelona have reached a deal that will have Villa move to Barcelona and the official announcement of the big deal should take place any day now.
A close source to the Champions League winner has revealed that Villa, who is a great striker, wanted to join Barcelona and he has recently had his wish granted.
There have been ongoing negotiations between Barcelona and Valencia and Joan Laporta, who is the president of Barcelona, recently revealed that there was a bid made for the international striker in a recent television interview.
Sources have confirmed that a deal has been hammered out and that Villa will join Barcelona even though it is the case that no fee details have been reported.
Laporta has suggested that the offer will be for over €40 million and Valencia's new chief Vicente Soriano had promised to let Villa go this year, which means that Barca now have the player they coveted the most this off-season.
With Villa set to join Barcelona it may mean that Samuel Eto'o will not be re-signed, even though Barca are still negotiation with him. Eto'o was the leading scorer for Barcelona and both Manchester City and Manchester United of the Premier League are very interested in the services of the Cameroon striker.
Real Madrid decided not to go after Villa after they were told that he was not for sale. After they were told that Real then signed striker Karim Benzema from Olympique Lyonnais for €41 million.
