Liverpool's Deal for Xabi Alonso Back On?
by Jason Green of Predictem.com
It looked as if the deal that would send Liverpool's Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid was dead, but now it looks like it is back on. Now it seems that Alonso will move to Real Madrid and Liverpool will get Wesley Sneijder and cash. Liverpool would not make the deal unless Wesley Sneijder was a part of the equation.
Alonso has stated that he would like to play for the Spanish Giants and why would he not, as Real is stacked now with new players Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Karim Benzema. The deal may get done, but so far Liverpool and Real have not come to an agreement in terms of a transfer fee.
However, according to recent reports Liverpool is apparently ready to take a deal for less money if Wesley Sneijder is a part of the deal. As it currently stands Liverpool wants a transfer fee for their star player to the tune of €37million, which is a fee that Real Madrid will not match.
Even though it looks as if all the Real Madrid Dutch players are on the selling block Manuel Pellegrini recently stated that he sees Sneijder to be an important part of the club, but he would let him go if he can land someone like Alonso.
Since both teams continue their negotiations it does not look like Alonso will be traveling with Liverpool on their pre-season tour of Asia. Alonso has been linked to other clubs, but if Real does not sign him he may be staying put at Liverpool.
