This game has become the most wildly popular variation of Jacks of Better poker. This is the top rung of video poker for many video poker enthusiasts. It evolves the idea of “bonus” four-of-a-kind hands in Double Bonus Poker to a new height by use of a “kicker.” Aces are the main focus of this game but 2’s, 3’s, and 4’s are also bonus hands.

As in Double Bonus Poker, four 5’s through K’s pays $62.50 on a max bet quarter denomination machine , $100 on 2’s, 3’s or 4’s, and $200 on aces, Double Double Bonus Poker adds one fabulous bonus feature. On a hand of aces, 2’s, 3’s or 4’s the return is doubled if the fifth card is a “kicker.” That means that adding an ace, 2. 3, or 4 to your four-of-a-kind doubles the return.

Here’s an example: Four aces with a king pays 160:1 but four aces with a 2 pays 400:1.

Here’s another example: Four twos with a five pays 80:1 but four twos with a three pays 160:1. The only thing you give up playing Double Double Bonus Poker is the 1:1 return on two pair. This is the basic paytable for a typical Double Double Bonus Poker Machine:
