Haven't been around here much but it is safe to say that I am ******* jacked right now! I can't wait to watch a top 2 of :

    ANYONE - Crosby - Hossa
    Malone - Malkin - Sykora

And Crosby, Malkin, Hossa, Gonchar, and anybody else on the PP. I was also pretty happy about getting a guy that can at least attempt to clear out the front of the net on the PK in Gil. JML, how has he been this year?

I don't really like that the Pens parted with Esposito if Hossa is going to be nothing but a rental. But I have a feeling that they will find a way to sign him, then Malkin's new deal won't start until 09-10, and I think along with Fleury's.

well they are the only ones then because everyone else seemed to think it was a good deal. Look, TB needed to shed salary and go in a different direction. They dumped 7.8M/season and got a very good goaltender from all accounts in return. Halpern was a toss in as DAL wanted to give TB a little salary back in return (halpern makes 2M/season for 2 more years). Jokinen has been bounced all over the ice and has done well when he has had steady playing partners. you are never going to get Brad Richards in return for Brad Richards, but they also needed cap room to resign Boyle. They gave Boyle 3M more a year than he is making now, took on 2M with Halpern, 900K with Smith, but then shed Hlavac, Richards, Prospal, Holmqvist..........i think it worked for everyone.

And kudos to CBJ for shedding two guys that would have been great if this were 1998 not 2008. They weren't making the playoffs anyway and they got a freeking first rounder for Foote.

What a freaking let down as a nucks fan. I didn't want them to overpay for richards with that contract on the books for another 3 but I was hoping our offer would be enough. Guess they wanted the more nhl tender vs the one with the supposed higher upside.

I figured Jokinen would cost a ton and seems it was the case as nobody would meet the asking price.

I knew we weren't after hossa.

All we did was trade one of the only guys who will lay the body on the regular for an underperforming local kid. I'd rather have kept Cooke but he's not a big fave of the coach.

Lots of hype on my way to bed last night total wet blanket come deadline.

I dont know if anyone watched Fletchers new conference about the state of the Leafs but it was pretty amazing.

    1. Says the face of the Leafs is going to be totally different next October. (Sundin not going to be resigned?) I can see them trading Kubina in the offseason since there a window for him to be traded in his contract.

    2. Sounded pretty upset the NTC guys were content staying somewere that was going in the opposite direction. One Leaf agreed to be traded to a team then after last nights game changed his mind. (TSN saying they think it was Kubina)

    3. Players they traded were not core players. (Slap in the face to those guys. Hate the Kilger and Belak trade with a passion. I know Belak never played but thats the only reason the deal doesnt completely bother me because he now gets a chance to play. Hes always there for his teamates and throws himself into any situation you can think off. Someone takes out Toskala then they play them a week later like the Jansen situation and whos there to fight for there goalie???)

Kilger was always a great player for the team. Finishes his check and plays great in his own end. Looks like he was trading just to trade.

    4. Bashes JFJ and management for giving/allowing for the 5 NTC.

    -----

Huet for a 2nd next year??? Price is really been put in a tough position. I really feel they were moving Huet to allow for a trade another trade but thought they had anough room to allow for a trade. Other than losing him to Free agency i dont get the deal especially since he's helped them get to were they are today.

Richards deal is great for both teams. Jokinen and Smith will help them especially riding themselves of holmqvist especially since they got some good young goalies on the up and up.

Pitt gave up alot for Hossa. Really dont think this trade hurts ATL chances to make the playoff even this year, though i doubt they make it. Armstrong and Christianson will help this team for now and the future.

yeah....I'm happy with the LEafs. Not much he could do. Sundin, McCabe, Tucker, Kubina & Kaberle all had no trades in their contracts. Blake’s contact un-tradeable. JFJ screwed this team for years. Gotta Pray for the lottery ball to bounce our way. I thought Fletcher did good to get a 5th for a nobody like Belak, and 2nd and 5th for the slow average Gill.

Pens and Caps were big winners IMO. I agree...the Pens gave up 2 middling 3rd line wingers, and a debateable prospect who dropped heavily in the draft.

How does Montreal only get a 2nd round pick for a top 10 goalie like Huet?? Brutal. Caps squeak in the playoffs with their moves.

yeah, i mean i guess i was thinking more of the value that sykora would now have, and i really dont' want 3 dallas stars on my team. modano may have to go IF richards takes draws there.

i really can't believe that ATL didn't get Staal in that deal. I personally think Armstrong is a stiff who never did anything when he wasn't with Crosby and Christensen is whatever. I think ATL got hosed by not getting Staal as they needed a good young centerman.

Guess Oli Jokinen is staying put.

Avs just signed Claude Lemieux, Mike Ricci and Patrick Roy...

Guess the leafs did as well as they could with all those no trades. They got a few picks but definitely not what leaf fans could have wanted, IMO. Still stuck with Blake, McCabe, Kubina and Sundin

Hossa going to Pittsburgh, and playing with one of Crosby or Malkin (or both!) is BAD for your fantasy? lmao  You're insane....I will trade you ANY player on my team for him....his stats are going to skyrocket. Points aren't "divided" in the NHL, FF....if he's playing with those guys...there are assists and goals to go around on the same goal....that's EXACTLY what you wanted for him (one reason I tried to trade for him pre-deadline). I don't think Sykora will really suffer...it just makes the top 2 lines, and PPs deeper and better an more points, plus-minus, everything...JMO...

dang, my fantasy team took a hit today with Hossa going to PIT and Richards going to DAL. I now have 3 stars and 2 penguins. The scoring will be too divided up on those teams to have any impact for either one of those players. Too many guys on the PP getting minutes...:bang:......8-0-4 L12 weeks and i lose Richards, Horcoff, Gagne and now these trades in a matter of 3 weeks. :puke:

Holy ****....the Pens just locked up the East (especially with Ottawa & NJ doing squat). Added Hossa to an already talented team...Malkin is the hottest forward in the league, and they get Crosby back soon too. Hal Gill for defensive depth as well. Their top 2 lines are going to be unreal...

Now the Wings will call up Mcarty, lol, would have been funny if Columbus trade Fedorov to Detroit instead of Washington.
