  • UFC on Versus 5

    MAIN CARD (Versus)
    •Dan Hardy vs. Chris Lytle
    •Ben Henderson vs. Jim Miller
    •Donald Cerrone vs. Charles Oliveira
    •Duane Ludwig vs. Amir Sadollah

    PRELIMINARY CARD
    •C.B. Dollaway vs. Jared Hamman
    •Joseph Benavidez vs. Eddie Wineland
    •Ed Herman vs. Kyle Noke
    •Ronny Markes vs. Karlos Vemola
    •Alex Caceres vs. Jim Hettes
    •Cole Miller vs. T.J. O'Brien
    •Danny Castillo vs. Jacob Volkmann
    •Edwin Figueroa vs. Jason Reinhardt

Me thinks this free card will be awesome. BTW, all pre-lims will be simulcast on Facebook for free. Befriend them and you have access - pretty good quality too.

I am not crazy about the main event, but I really like most of the card. Love the Bendo/Miller fight, as Bendo impressed last time out and Miller has impressed in his last eight fights or so - on a very long winning streak. Cerrone/Olivera will be a great fight - both have great subs and cardio - my hope is Cerrone gets on Olivera because Olivera ****ed me last time he fought, with that illegal knee (graded as a loss by my book; overturned by Pennsylvania Athletic Commission as no-contest).

Interesting to see if Herman continues his winning ways since his leg injury, or if it was a fluke. Like to see Bruce Leeroy, Cole Miller, and Edwin Figueroa.

Probably looking at Hardy because he's a more technical striker, and Lytle wants to throw. However, both fighters have said they want to make a good fight for the fans, and Hardy has been victim of "lay and pray" on his last three losses. Plus, Hardy is English and Dana keeps him just because of his background and wanting to promote over in England... might have just talked myself out of the fight.

Super stoked that I didn't bet Reinhardt... boy he looked lost. Perhaps his cut to 135 hurt too much at that age? Figueroa is going to be a great prospect at Bantamweight.

Jacob Volkman -125 over Danny Castillo

Castillo beat up on Joe Stevenson last time in a three-round decision, and Volkman is a former Gopher standout.

Barring something sick, that's a great win for Jacob Volkmann... really looked hesitant on his feet, and ate a couple of inside leg kicks on the lead leg, but dominated the ground. A really great technical fight... Castillo has some SICK choke defense... Volkmann had like seven or eight Darsus (sp?) chokes that were very deep. Castillo has a great heart but was just outclassed on the ground. Surprising was all three judges scored it 29-28... I had it 30-27 Volkmann.

Nice little stand-up war between O'Brien and Miller... Miller catches O'Brien with a hook, eventually gets down on him and finished O'Brien with a one-arm guillotine!!!

Next up: Bruce Leeroy Alex Caceres +352 vs Jimy Hettes -450... too big of juice, but I'd like Bruce Leeroy but I think he gets subbed!

Well, I've been trying to place a bet on Bruce Leeroy at +325 but BetUS says "Internal Error - please try again later." I'm going to be angry if he wins because Hettes takes this fight on short notice, and it'd be great for the UFC if Caceres wins.

Holy moly what a good round. Both on top, then bottom, both have great transitions and wild strikes from top and elbows from bottom. Both attacking on bottom for subs. Tough fight to score.

Great second round, and Jimy Hettes wins by rear-naked choke in second round. Thank you BetUS for the Internal Error!

Next up: Ronny Markes +190 vs. Karlos Vemola -240

Don't know anything about either fighter's, going to pass.

                      Late add:

Karlos Vemola -240 over Ronny Markes - Vemola drops from heavyweight and a great striker with a mean-streak. Signs point to Markes being more talented with a better upside, but thrown in too quickly...

Damn. Vemola getting absolutely man-handled by Markes upper-body strength until late Vemola almost gets a guillotine but time runs out. Need Vemola to have a nice war standing and use his wrestling to stuff the takedown.

Going to count Vemola as a loss - no more betting on fighter's I've never heard of! Haha.

                          Ed Herman +115
over Kyle Noke - everyone on Noke but Herman impressed enough last fight.

Herman wins by inside-heel hook, that was disgusting!!!! Great to see Herman being so active on the ground! Looks like Noke may have really hurt his knee and/or ankle.

Next up: Eddie Wineland +220 vs Joseph Benevidez -300

Note: my Herman bet did NOT go through. UGH. Same Internal Error. Angry.
