  • OSU versus PSU thoughts?

seeing the discussion thread on the Georgetown game drew so many thoughts i would try it again today. I mean i was out of breath reading that 2nd and last reponse to some discussion on that game.......

sad that more people don't put the "why" into their plays.

I have a sneaking suspicion that PSU hangs in this ball game tomorrow. OSU never beats anyone decent by margin. They lost to Illinois at home by 2, beat Minnesota by 6 in a game that was closer than that....beat PUR by 8 but it took OT. They did crush Michigan but lost to MSU. PSU has some good road wins in the big10 this year at MSU and at Illinois.

My problem is that OSU is in dire need of a win at this point. Apparently after i read cusefan the riot act on his field of 65 missing OSU, they promptly tanked 3 close games. This is a huge game for them IMO. They have to go to MSU and Iowa (and Iowa is not an easy place to win. Purdue won there by 4, Michigan just lost there, as did Wisconsin and Northwestern). I think OSU is in desperate need of a win.

But then again PSU has had a week to prepare for this game and OSU has had 2 days since playing on Sunday. They are playing for the 3rd time in 7 days. And they were supposedly a tired team before this last week of games.

The line opened 6 and is down to 5 1/2 already. I think PSU is the right side grabbing 6 points, but i would like to hear what others have to say. I haven't been able to get a read on PSU all year long. They either seem to win on the road or get absolutely pasted (michigan by 20, minnesota by 20, Purdue by 14).

Anyone? More than 2 people today maybe.....:dunno:

    Ok...FF

I haven't been posting for a while but I see you're desperate for some input even if it is only mine LOL..

The score from my program is 64 - 71 Ohio St...

Penn has a marginally better performance value in the o'all rating...

    Ohio St. has a much greater P.F. in H/A & L5 rating.

Also when comparing common foes algorithm, I show Ohio St. @ +5 points on Avg..

All in all I think taking Ohio St. @ -5.5 is a reasonable wager...

    GL...I'm playing that line...

    Baseball stuff...

    Data from USA today matchups...

    Team name....[W/L]...Score...Whip...ERA....BP....AF....IP....P&BP....DIFF..

P&BP is pitchers & Bull pen score. DIFF is differential value O'all & L3..[New data]..Higher value is indicative of better performance...

I kinda like the under 127 looking at the past scores both teams have put up. This side is more than likely a no play for me since I don't really know **** about either of these teams.

I think the game goes over (did I just say that for a Big 10 game?). Lean to OSU since they have to know that losing this one cripples their NCAA chances. In my opinion, this is almost an elimination game depending on what goes in other games obviously.

Quick hit cause I know the game is almost upon us. Both teams combined are 13-4-1 for the Over on Tuesdays (I sound like Pete Axthelm). Usually doesn't mean anything. The average looks to be at 126. The past 10 games for both teams. It's almost a split going over: 5-3 for the Bucks and only 3 overs in the last 10 (1 push) for the Lions.

I'm staying away from this one all together.

I like good experienced guards on the road

and this is a decent spot...

This should be a very close game

            Battle , Pringle, Cornley ..

Penn St plays well on the road and they have showed they can win games against teams like Illinois and Michigan State on the road ...

Gonna take my chances with psu

              Some thoughts

              Very strange game.

I was thinking. Who is going to be All Big 10 1st Team? lol... how bad is that team, considering the honor. Doesn't belong on the same court as the ACC, Big East, Big 12, or even Pac 10 and SEC teams, IMHO. I mean, you honestly can't even find 5 guys who are no-brainers.

Battle, Turner, Lucas, Johnson, Moore, Coble, Cornley, Harris are really even the only candidates.

              G- Battle
              G- Lucas
              G- Harris
              F- Coble
              F- Turner

              I guess...

Come to think of it, the Atlantic 10, Mountain West, and Conference USA would all be favored over that paltry bunch as well I'd guess.

I'm pretty sure they could take the MAC and MAAC down though

Big ten is usually about defense. They keep scores low, except during the Big Ten/ ACC Classic in the early going. They just get bounced. However, they always manage to work their way deep in the tourney.

yeah they do, big time. you can't play 40 minutes of perimeter basketball and win consistently. you will go cold and if you can't get easy buckets inside when you need them, it's hard to be consistent. IMO

Yea, that was bad. They REALLY need a big guy.

OSU's Hill played some harrassing defense tonight too, I was impressed with his effort. Even Diebler plays hard defense. I guess it helps that PSU has no one over 6'5'' for the guards to pass the ball to in the post though too, though.
