  • Sweet 16 lines out

    Well, most of 'em anyways.

    Duke -2 vs Villanova
    Pitt -7 vs Xavier
    UCONN -6.5 vs Purdue
    UNC -8.5 vs Gonzaga
    Oklahoma -1 vs Syracuse

Thoughts? Anyone have the other 3 lines yet?

At first glance I like Villanova, Xavier, UNC, and Syracuse. I can see myself going back and forth with UCONN/Purdue game up until tip.

PITT hasn't come close to covering a game yet (despite the late garbage points that almost put them over today....that was a 3 point game with 1 to go) and here they are a 7 point favorite. Makes you say either (a) they are due for a good game or (b) the oddsmaker is still giving them too much respect. Im not sure PITT is going to run away and hide from anyone in this tourney.

If GONZ plays defense the way they have so far, i love UNC in that one. UNC may hang 110 on them honestly.

UCONN will have too much for Purdue in the end i think. I like UCONN

DUKE is going to get all they want from Villanova.

If Nova brings it defensively against Duke like they did UCLA, I think Duke might be in trouble. Syracuse has size down low to math up with Griffin, but if Harris, Jackson, and onuaku get in foul trouble, it can get ugly. Cuse will be able to score on OKLA, should be a good one.

Agree with UNC... as for UCONN, Thabeet is a defensive force, not sure if Purdue has a answer for him.

Interesting to see the Sweet16 breakdown:

BigEast-5 (4 heavy weights and the always wildcard in Syracuse)
              Big12-3 (all the heavyweights)
              Big10-2 (2 best teams from the big10)
              ACC-2 (probably that league's 2 best)
Pac10-1 (arizona the lone team left who nobody said belonged)
SEC- ZERO and only 1 in the 32 round(validated the pathetic season that it had)
MWC- ZERO and not even close to winning a game in the tourney (always kills me when i hear talk that conference deserves 3 and 4 bids)
              Gonzaga
              A10- 1 (heavyweight)
CUSA-1 (only decent team in the league and a heavyweight)

              1's-4
              2's-4
              3's-4
              4's-2
              5's-1
              12's-1

pretty much the cream rising to the top in this tourney. such a gap forming between the really good teams and the marginal ones. each conference's best teams made it and all the marginal teams fell by the wayside (see the WVU's, OSU's, CAL's, UCLA's, Clemsons, Wakes, TXAM's etc of the world...)

Gut feeling Duke will win, everyone lining up to play on Nova. Pitt line is a real head scratcher, would have made it a 5, and would have been grabbing points. At 7 it looks too easy, have to think about that one....

                    Add these to the mix:

                    MSU -1.5 vs Kansas
                    Memphis -4.5 vs Mizzou
                    Louisville -9 vs Arizona

First glance has me liking all 3 faves there. Memphis playing extremely well right now and MSU has better depth than KU. I would take the Pitinos simply out of spite and utter hatred of Arizona.

:dunno: :dunno:...how do you live in Illinois and have any feelings at all towards Arizona. Especially since ILL rallied to beat them in the final 8 4 years ago or so.

AZ beat IL a few years before then in the tourney so they aren't on our good side. I do feel smart for taking AZ in my sweet 16 though. I think Arizona could cover against Louisville. I'm not really sure but I'm not that impressed with Louisville.

Each play is to win the # of units posted unless it's a dog then I'm betting that amount.

I think 6.5 to Purdue is way too many.

Missouri looks good to me too. And unfortunately so does Duke. (Duke always screws me)
