Cuse...I'm just messin with Flyers....I realize before the W over BC this weekend they were still on the bubble...but I really think after that W they are in the tourney....but we'll see i guess....IMO, if this team gets on a roll they can make some serious noise in what I think is a wide open ACC tourney...

Two things:

(1) Boiler - The Big 10 is not the 4th best conference in America. It's not better than the ACC, Big East, Big 12, or Pac 10. I know you will counter with the old, "We have two #1 seeds argument", but after that it is really lacking. I would say it's the 5th best personally, but to each their own.

(2) Bookie Killa - Technically, Flyers is right because if GT loses to Wake Forest on Wednesday or Thursday (or whenever it is), that will knock them right back out of the brackets. They HAVE to win that game and then if they lose to Virginia Tech, it shouldn't really matter. But again, technically he is correct. They can't lose the opening round game.

Here's my 65 (should have waited one more day, but I can always update it tomorrow. Only saying I should have waited cause I think Wright State becomes the first "bid stealer" tonight so I've prematurely factored that in already):

So, if Wright State can't win tonight than I have two spots open, and if they do then I only have 1. The teams I have left battling for those spots are the Illinois/Purdue left out team, Missouri State, and Gonzaga, than after that Drexel, Bradley, and Ole Miss (who I basically consider out). I think Gonzaga has put it together and wins tonight, so the can solve that 'problem' there and it's a battle between Power Conference midling vs Mid Major darling essentially. Xavier getting to the Atlantic 10 final and losing would solve all of this because that's another stolen bid.

The highest RPI teams I have eliminated and am giving no creedence to as serious contenders at this point in time are Clemson (36), Florida State (45), and Alabama (42).

The team I have as "LAST IN" except for the 1 bid remaining is Old Dominion.

I would be inclined to give the remaining bid to Purdue because I feel like Missouri State had plenty of chances to prove their worth and didn't. If it were Illinois, I don't know what I'd do because I truly feel Illinois sucks ass.

hmm...I think you had a few too many :drunk: when you made that statement..lol....the jackets punched their ticket to the big dance with their win over UNC last thursday....now that they've beaten BC, IMO they really don't need to 'prove' anything in the ACC tourney...I believe now they're simply playing for seeding in the big dance....If they can get deep in ACC tourney, who knows, they can maybe end with a decent seed in the big dance...:nuts:

All I have to say is usually they say....we look at how the teams finished the year....I would like to see Purdue beat Iowa in the first Big 10 Tourney game, but even so....

they finished the year 7-3 in the last 10, where they beat Indiana by 13, beat Michigan State by 24, beat Ill by 17 and had Ohio State on the ropes in Columbus until the last 4 mins of the game. Only turkey in there was at Iowa which they can erase on Friday. They are the 5th seed in the fourth best conference. They beat Virginia. They were 5-2 outside the conference vs. Top 100 teams. They beat four teams that have 20+ victories, 2 teams with 19 wins and 2 with 18. If it weren't for Ryan at Wisky, Matt Painter would be a shoo in for Big 10 Coach of the year. PU was picked to suck.

My problem with this

is that Ga Tech would win the CAA outright with their freshmen.There simply is no comparison between ACC talent and CAA talent, not this year especially.I am sure the CAA may have a guy who makes the NBA:Carolina has more on their bench that will than the CAA has as a league.

BB - I agree with your assessment of the under .500 conference record. If FSU beats Clemson, however, and then knocks of UNC on a neutral court (although I think the ACC tourney is in Tampa this season actually) then they would have a strong case even if they lost in the semi to whoever. The ONLY reason I say they have this case is because of the Toney Douglass injury. Either way, I don't think they'll get it done, so this is a kinda of a moot argument in all likliehood.

This year there is not one 7-9 power conference team that deserves any consideration whatsoever for the Big Dance. Also, there are only two 8-8 power conference teams that deserve any consideration IMO - Michigan State and Georgia Tech.

I think end the end Georgia Tech (and possible a Big 10 team) is the team most aided by the Colonial conference happenings today. The Colonial wanted Drexel and Old Dominion to advance because if they both did then they were both locks to get in and now they are all going to have to sweat it out. Both schools should pray VCU wins tomorrow night.

but I think there is a lot on the line at the ACC tourney for all of the teams mentioned If Clemson wins two, I doubt they are out, same with the others.The fact is, like it or not, and I have seen them play fairly often, you put VCU in the ACC, and it is right at the bottom with Miami.No joke.They play hard, are well coached, but have none of the athletes that are on teams like Clemson, Ga Tech and FSU. Hell Al Thornton could beat them with four stiffs from the VCU rec league.

My opinion is that any team that goes 7-9 does not deserve to go in unless they get to the tourney final and play well in it.

I agree with you. I just didnt agree with how Cuse said FSU is on the bubble and Clemson wasnt even close. Its just my opinion that if Clemson wins their next two games, vs FSU and UNC then they may sneak in. Are they on the bubble? I think they are on the outer edge. I think both teams are, both need miracles.

That's quite a bubble if they need to win two games just to merit an inkling of consideration, isn't it?

I know you said that you wouldn't put them in either, but the fact that I said that FSU is on the bubble while Clemson is not is your beef. Ok Well, the reason FSU is WAY AHEAD of Clemson in terms of bubbliciousness is because FSU lost a bunch of games with Toney Douglass out and the committee will factor that in GREATLY. I don't, at all, think FSU should be in either but they are on the bubble. Meanwhile, Clemson has lost 9 of 11, and their non-conference wins are an utter atrocity and a joke (while FSU played and BEAT Florida).

It's apples to oranges in terms of those two IMHO, for a plethora of reasons. Do I think FSU gets in? No, I definitely don't (I haven't done my brackets yet, and will do it in the morning). But do I think Clemson will get in? **** NO, I don't.

When it's all said and done, I guarantee FSU will be one of those "last teams out" (assuming they lose their ACC opener) while Clemson won't even be mentioned. And that was my point.
