Central PA is a hot bed of BT......due to PSU...but, to charge another markup for carrying BTN and make everyone pay just isn't gaining any ground here, as far as I know. Just stick it in a tier package along with the NFL net, or something like that. Problem is, I think the BTN is afraid to go it on their own, and do this, and find out there just isn't that big of a demand on this. With out the tier package, they are guarenteed the money from all subscribers. -
it's not the cable companies' fault in areas like yours and mine. you can't charge an extra 1.10 for a basic channel that basically only a handful of people are even going to watch. sure there are a lot of big10 alumni, but that is a miniscule amount of the general population in texas or california. single family homes with only a mother, houses that have no one who cares about the big10...etc.....probably make up about 95 percent of the cable audience outside the midwest. you can't make people pay an extra 1.10 for something 95 percent of the people aren't even going to watch.
now i could see MAYBE carrying it in the midwest, but still, the problem is that nobody is going to watch women's volleyball or men's swimming/diving etc....and outside of maybe some coaches shows, 100 percent of the programming outside of football and hoops is pure garbage..........
Comcast has there own crappy sports networks.
ESPN televises lots of crap (Xgames and poker and pool and paintball...) so I could give a rats behind if the BTN shows mens diving. They will show lots of bball and it will be refreshing to see some mens baseball. They are all to blame, but I still blame the Big Ten the most. and by the way, womens volleyball is not that bad.... most of them actually look like women....Leave a comment:

try living outside the midwest.....cable companies will NEVER pick up that channel. heck the MWC has its own cable channel and nobnody has it. so what are the odds of getting the big10 network if the local conference can't even get its channel on. there is too much bull**** programming that nobody wants to watch and that is the sticking point. Nobody gives a **** about watching ANY women's sports (except softball...lol) and men's sports outside of football and basketball (and the occassional baseball game) are worthless to spend your time watching too. So you have 1 or 2 football games on a Saturday and a couple hoops games each week. Outside of that it is all worthless programming.
pretty much you hit it dead on. OSU won't be on TV the first 2 weeks and there are a TON of people in Columbus that won't even be able to watch the game. But that is the world we are quickly becoming. Everyone is out to make a buck at the expense of sanity. I personally hope the thing tanks big time and the big10 gets egg all over its face.
Pisses me off.... If it were not for FULL COURT, I would have seen maybe 2 Purdue Bball games last year.
EAT ME Fox, Big Ten Network, Comcast etc.....Leave a comment:

They can blow me.
Cannot understand the thinking here..... They want cable companies to pay 1.10 per customer in the Midwest on the Basic Tier.
All that is going to happen here, is that the Big Ten will be on TV LESS than the other conferences. The Big Ten will no longer be on GamePlan or FullCourt.... I am sick of the leadership in the conference.
