  • 9/11 Tributes

I for one will never forget that day. I make it a point to watch all the tributes and listen to what others have to say about that day because it helps remind me that our country isn't that bad after all and it feels good to know that when the **** hits the fan that Americans whether their mexicans, whites, brothers or others come together to help eachother out.

Here is one of the better tributes I've ever seen.

    God Bless Ya'll.

I will never forget this day as well. I was in college at the time and I was getting ready for work - I had the TV on and saw this - I was in complete shock. I went downstairs and told my GF (now wife ;p) - she was asleep at the time, but we both just sat there and could not believe our eyes.

              Sad time to remember..

Everyone should remember exactly where they were and what they were doing that morning. I was driving to work listening to Howard Stern. He was talking about how he had been out with Pamela Anderson the night before and how he thought she was hitting on him...everyone was making fun of him...then, there was a report that a plane hit the trade center...the entire studio on the Stern show turned on the local television news...and when that second plane hit, Howard Stern immediately said OBL was behind it. I mean IMMEDIATELY after that second plane hit. It was really surreal listening to it...I was listening to them react to watching the coverage on tv.

The other thing I will never forget and still make reference to......the weather that morning. Whenever there is a day in southwestern Ohio when there is very low humidity and not a cloud in the sky...I always think, this weather today reminds me of 9/11. The weather on that day was perfect here....and its not very often that there is low humidity in Ohio.

Such nice weather for such a tragic event to occur. I can't believe we haven't captured OBL yet. That sucks.

i think it is really sad that the internet is full of articles today STILL passing the blame 6 years later. One discussed the FBI stopping some dude at the airport but not getting permission to search him or something to that effect. One again blamed the CIA for not gathering enough intel. That is all we do in politics in this country and in the media (same thing as far as i am concerned....media is just an outlet for the liberals) is pass blame. We never do a thing republican or democrat to improve this country. We just sit back and point fingers after the fact and try and penalize as many hard working people as we can. The thing that angers me the most about 9/11 isn't about the terrorists or Bin Laden. It's that 6 years later our politicians are still putting us at risk through all their bickering and posturing about things like the war, intel etc.. The democrats try and load up an Iraq spending bill with free handouts for every lazy SOB in this country....zillions of mexicans are streaming across the borders (check out the crime numbers on those folks if you haven't already) along with gosh knows who else.....democrats want to legalize all of them so they get their votes....its sick.....the list is endless.

i think as a nation, we are strong.....politically we are a joke. And people want MORE government in this country???

RIP everyone who lost their lives or lost someone close on 9/11. Its a day that never should have happened and probably will happen again at some point unfortunately the way our government works together.

That's really funny Nigel (poor choice of words, I apologize but I don't know how else to say it) that you said that because that is one of the things I remember about that day too. I worked for 10 years managing a business on the boardwalk here at the Jersey Shore and I was supposed to go open up that day at noon. My boss was already back in Florida for the winter seeing how Labor Day (and the cruxt of the season) had passed, and after watching everything I didn't know if I should go open up or not. I took a ride up there, not sure what time it was exactly but Stern was still on (and I NEVER listen to him) and when I got there I found obviously no one there (being so close I guess everyone was watching it on TV all day and night). I remember just standing on the boardwalk and thinking, "My god, it's beautiful day here and my god it's a horrible day here."

                          Weird.

I watched the first three. 3,000 died. Lets look at one of them who shall remain nameless. Cousins on his mothers side, cousins on his fathers side, Aunts, Uncles, brothers, sisters, children, grandparents, grandchildren and maybe even great grandparents of one fallen. Lets say he had 30 of these that lived to see their loved one perish. Times that by 3,000. It ain't fkn pretty. It was'nt just the ones that died, but the ones they left behind that are still having a hard time. If one of mine died in this, I would not bear to watch the specials on TV that they play every year. As they say in the south "hell no I ain't forgettin'"
