  • Trip to Vegas

Hey guys. A bunch of friends and I (21-25 y.o) are going to be heading down to Vegas in either April or May. So far Ive found some pretty good deals at The Golden Nugget and Planet Hollywood (~$500 flight+hotel for 3 nights) specifically. Does anyone here have experience with either of these places or could maybe recommend another one. We're pretty open to anything -- just looking to party with the guys doing some gambling, girls shopping.
    Soccer: 28-28-1 (+4.82 Units) / parlays: 2-2 (+2.04 Units)

i've never heard of the hotels, but make sure you book your flight as early as you can. You can save a lot of money that way.

I'd go to Planet Hollywood if you want to stay on the Strip, and seeing as you guys are all young, I would hit Planet Hollywood. The Golden Nugget is downtown--not you guys' scene--trust me on this one.
Planet Hollywood used to be the Aladdin and its right near the monrail if you want to see some other parts of the strip that are too far to walk to.

Enjoy yourselves and nail a couple of young fillies for this old, married fart....:beerbang:

If you have never been, stay at Planet Hollywood. Otherwise, if you don't need all the glamour and glitz (plus you can grab a cab to the strip) then stay downtown at the Nugget. I go every year and now stay at the Nugget. Love the prices and service and you have FAR better chances to win money downtown. The strip is for tourist suckers. Just my 2 cents. Either way you should have a blast and smoke a stogie for me...

Oh and BTW... a fantastic site for info and cheap bastards like me is Cheapo Vegas

I have stayed at the Golden Nugget twice. First time before they spent couple of million for improvements. I think they waste ton of money in the shark tank slide in to the pool. LOL It was cool. I like this hotel, I have found the rooms clean and the staff very friendly. If you need a cab driver you will have to yell at Yo he's got the phone number to the coolest cab driver in town. If you want a table shower he can hook you up on that also. LMAO. I have not been over to the other hotel.

Oh yeah and staying over at the GN that big tv screen over the street is really cool at night time.

We did not play much at the GN we went across the street most of the time to play Craps at the dollar table.

I just stayed at PHollywood and it's a great place to stay. From what I saw the Golden Nugget was very old looking, while Hollywood was had a nice looking casino and a pretty nice sports betting area.
But it really depends if you want to spend the extra money and want to be close to the strip because the Strip is not in walking distance from the GN.
            Overall Records

Each play is to win the # of units posted unless it's a dog then I'm betting that amount.

A lot of locals go to the Golden Nugget, since its not as loud and live. A ton of OLD folks. Go to Planet Hollywood.

Nobody ever listens to me. Circus Circus. Your walking distance to the Hilton which IMO is the best sports book. Nuggett doesn't give you free beer in the sports book. You can get a 25 hour bus pass for less than $5 and you can ride as much as you want for 24 hours. Or you can call Steve at, I had to edit the #, I'll email it to ya, and he will stop what he is doing to come get you in his cab. There is a store next to CC so you can pick up a 40 oz Coors light for your walk to the Hilton. And a store accross from the Hilton for a beer on the walk back. CC's sport book sucks, and you will be the only ones there so look at it like your own high roller room. But no trip is complete without going to, I can't remember the name, its on the far end of the strip, the big gold building. Go in there and ask the guy behind the sports book counter how come they ain't got the nascar race on the big screen. Its a must LOL
                  If its fun, do it

Don't know how many times I have to tell people this! Do not book deals through a agent!!!!! Book your own trip and if your a player when you get done with your vacation you contact a casino host! They will either comp your rooms or give you a better rate! NOW MOST IMPORTANT!!!!! Get a players card when you get there! Hell get a few let your girlfriend us yours (Use one player for the both of you) Use this card and gamble at the casino your staying at!!!! ALWAYS USE YOUR CARD!!!! Put everything on your room and than when you check out they will take care of some of the charges as well!!!!
Now remember you have to be a player if your not going to gamble well why even go to Vegas!!!! Agents make money off of you for booking thought them! Casino will not work with you once you book a deal thought agent because of this. SO DON'T BOOK A DEAL!
You want a deal.........Pay your air fare..........Book your own room. Gamble and charge everything to your room. When you leave let the casino pay for your trip, rember to talk to a host and get established so the next time you go there the rooms are free and they will even pick you up at the airport with the hotel limo!!!!!

That is how it works in Vegas! Just saved you $500 dollars!!! You can send me a 12 pack when you get back!!!!

                      Happy Gambling!!!!

I just stayed at Planet Hollywood in October, and based on what you're looking for, it's probably the best fit. I agree with Billy, do all of your booking directly. Check fatwallet dot com in the 'travel deals' forum for the best deals at vegas hotels, and they'll give you a rundown of the cheapest prices for hotels. If you shop around for airlines you should be able to find cheap rates, particularly if you fly in mid-week.

Planet Hollywood is connected to the 'miracle mile' mall which can provide some side entertaintment for the ladies while you guys do some gambling. I liked the sportsbook there, but if you want an outstanding sportsbook, try Caesars Palace (fairly short walk). PH is a perfect location mid-strip as well. Lots to do if you venture a short walk away from the casino. Do the $20 trick at the counter and you can get upgraded to a deluxe room with a view of the Bellagio Fountains (make sure to ask for a 'renovated' room, the new ones are pretty cool, all 'hollywood themed').

Pretty decent poker room, with a high hand jackpot. Limit and NL games running 24hrs, they have 3 or 4 tournaments every day with around a 60 dollar buy in. Michael 'The Grinder' Mizrachi is the poker room rep, so plays in the tourneys there a few times each week.

Only real drawback to PH is the pool. It's only 'ok'. It's on the 6th floor, with 2 pools surrounded by lots of concrete, but nothing spectacular like Mandalay Bay.

I've gambled down at Golden Nugget and downtown. The place is ok, but the further you walk down from GN the more run down it gets. Might be worth a trip downtown once to see it (the light show is kinda cool) but I don't know if I'd want to stay down there.

Man, now you've got me wanting to go back!

I've only been to Vegas once, but I'm 24 and would never consider staying downtown (at the GN or similar). Head to the strip!
