Cubs/Pirates 1st 5 Under 4' 3 Units

Neither team hits, both pitchers have been solid against mediocre to poor hitting. Throw in the early monday game with the Cubs travelling and the pitchers spot ruining one inning and I like it.

Atlanta/Arizona First 5 Under 5 2 Units -125

I think Lowe can handle the Arizona bats if he displays any of the consistency from his recent stretch of starts. I feel Lowe is the key to the total because if he leaves the ball up a couple HR's could do this number in. Arizona being a team full of free swingers should also help Lowe with his movement near the bottom of the zone leading to a few free outs.

Haren on the other hand has been fairly unfortunate in regard to his flyball rate while retaining his other ratios at or above career levels across the board. His skills aren't deteriorating and there should be some strong performances coming soon (like his last outing at LA). The only thing that keeps me from backing the DBacks is their attrocious bullpen, which also keeps me at a first 5 play. After looking at it more I find the first 5 very attractive in the NL as the pitcher has less potential for danger if they can't navigate the pitcher's spot as that almost gives them a free inning and potentially can clean up the 5th if they are in trouble. I don't know if the numbers show that over the long haul but with under plays and some of these clubs bullpens I am surprised there isn't more shading of the numbers.

My main out is sportsbook and they tend to be slow moving their partial game lines (halfs/quarters/etc) and still have it at 5. Silva did finish it off after making the 5th inning interesting. But that was a case where the pitchers spot almost finished off the inning and the rally if Pitt hadn't made a change.

I agree with your NL philosophy and I try to hit the Unders mostly as well.


Was taking a look and noticed there are a lot of good SP going on Tuesday with ERA's under 3.

I don't usually mess with it, but I may play the UNDER 133 for all the games on Tuesday.

Do any of you guys ever play that 'grand salami' type of prop?

Carpenter, Strahsburg, Gallaraga, Hughes, etc.

When I am playing hockey I will go with the Salami prop occasionally but I have never used it in baseball. And tonight I will agree that there are a lot of quality and maybe underappreciated SP's going. But if Cleveland and Boston play a 13-9 game that pretty much throws that under out the window. Just a personal opinion.

And Arizona/Atlanta would have been fine last night if not for the 4 2 out runs in the 4th. Thanks Derek Lowe.
